NBA.com has a Defensive Player Ladder that, like it's Rookie Ladder, tries to give an in real time accounting of who the think is the current leader for DPOY.

#1 is Giannis
#2 is Mikal Bridges
#3 is Jaren Jackson Jr.

Then there is the next 6 guys, in no particular order, but order listed as:

Draymond Green
Rudy Gobert
Robert Williams
Dejounte Murray
Jarrett Allen & Evan Mobley

Why they have the Cav's guys as a duo is not explained, but I gotta think that, as of right now, Timelord is considered, by guys at NBA.com, a top 5-6 best defensive player in the league as of the stats of Feb. 13th, which the article uses. So maybe Williams has a good shot at the All-Defense Team.

The problem is that a lot of the guys ahead of him are bigs.  Giannis, Jackson, Green, Gobert, with Allen / Mobley / Embiid all in the mix.

It would be a shame if the best defense in the league (which I assume we'll be by the end of the year) only gets Smart.  Timelord is perhaps the most important defensive player on our team.

I don't think there's any ambiguity about it - he is easily our most important defensive player.

If we end up with the best team defensive rating, and they way we are playing, we will, it would be "indefensible" (ha ha) not to have at least one Celtic, and probably two, on the all defensive teams.  My bet is Smart and Rob.

If the defense keeps up and the C's wind up with the best defense in the NBA, it's going to be tough.

I think Smart should be in the DPOY conversation. Then we've got Timelord, Al, and even Tatum being talked about as potential all defense candidates. Someone is not going to make it and it's going to stink.
