Bickerstaff is pretty clearly the coach of the year.  I don't think anyone is even close to him.
Bickerstaff or Jenkins IMO

0% chance.

Look, he was pretty bad early on. He just was. He's been better recently, good even, but a lot of what's happening lately has been health/easy schedule/playing only 8 guys.

Celtics are literally like 4 shots from being out of 1st place. A couple of last second shots the opponents hit, and a couple of last second shots they missed.

That's it. Make 2 of those shots and the opponents miss 2 of those shots and C's would be in 1st place right now.

4 shots.

Correction: 1/2 game out

Taylor Jenkins/Monty Williams would both be good.

Memphis is far less surprising which is why I think Bickerstaff is the guy.  I mean Memphis was a playoff team last year after all.  Donovan has done a nice job in Chicago.  Williams has the Suns firing on all cylinders.  Malone has kept the Nuggets firmly in the playoffs even after losing Porter (and still no Murray).  Lue has done an amazing job in L.A.

A lot of really good coaching performances this year, but I really don't think anyone can compare to Bickerstaff given where everyone thought they'd be.  Then he loses Sexton 11 games into the season and after that Sexton's replacement in Rubio.  Markkanen has missed so much time Dean Wade has started 24 games.  Love looks like the guy from Minnesota again (in lesser minutes).  His weird 2 PG and 3 7 foot lineup actually worked.  I mean just a brilliant coaching job all the way through that lineup.  Absolutely an amazing job.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Yeah, if I was told Cleveland would be this good with this many injuries at the start of the season I would likely have laughed quite hard.

I mean, these are two-sided arguments, no? If we're saying that much of what we're currently doing is related to good health and an easier schedule, then we also have to admit that Ime was working with worse health and a worse schedule back then. That kind of stuff balances itself out. I for one am happy to admit that I think I was a little too hard on Ime early on due to not giving the health and hard schedule factors enough weight.
Recovering Joe Skeptic, but inching towards a relapse.

Part of what makes this discussion interesting is that it's based upon the Celtics streaking the rest of the way through the season.

If they do continue this through to season's end and finish ahead of teams like Cleveland and Chicago, shouldn't the award look at the total season and not just the success of teams in the first half of the season, which I think a couple of you guys are doing?

If the C's streak to over 50 wins and finish 1st or 2nd, I gotta believe Udoka gets a lot of COTY love, which I am guessing would cause a lot of the Udoka haters having a hard time admitting how wrong they were.

I agree that he needed more time but we also looked bad to start. The energy level was not there. It really started to click when Smart came back from injury on fire. The trade rumors also seemed to light a fire in some of these guys.

I'll gladly admit that I was not a fan. This streak has definitely turned me around. I also think the team fits together better now that Schroder is gone. The energy of this team is night and day!

I thought it interesting on trade deadline day that Perk said Schröder was a locker room problem and had to be traded. I never saw anything about that leaking out into the news.

His energy got so bad on the court it was like a bad vibe walking. He seemed to be sulking.

Oh, I agree but thought it interesting you heard nothing coming out of the locker room about it. I like that. Keep it internal and deal with it appropriately, like trading the guy if necessary.

Yeah, that's a good thing.

Saw somewhere in the game thread tonight vs 76ers

someone was complaining when they overheard Ime tell Horford to shoot when he's wide open

But I echo Kiorrik's sentiments - gotta let the dudes shoot with confidence
