Not a good defender doesn’t suit the team Ime is trying to build imo

If smart is missing time we need him worse than ever. White is our only lead guard that can play against good competition right now. Wish we had met Schroeder.

Gary Harris might be a better option from a defensive point of view…that said both Dragic and Harris will probably have their choice of suitors.

One left field signing might be Brad Wanamaker…we all know how Brad likes recycling players, and Wanamaker might fit into Ime’s scheme as a replacement for White who would replace Smartacus. Definite downgrade but they might not have their choice of replacement

We won’t sign anyone for today, and then the good news Smart’s ankle as a week to heal/respond during the break, so management can figure out what they need.  If it’s something short-term and they’re still waiting on the buyout market to sort out, I expect Arcidiacono to get a 10-day.

Yes the ASB came at just the right time to evaluate his status. I just hope it's not a high ankle sprain. Smartacus's foot turned inward so hopefully it's a low ankle sprain and he's only out for a couple of weeks.
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Didn't he sign with the Knicks for the rest of the season?  Or am I imagining that?

You’re not imagining that.  I just missed the news this weekend.  I don’t know why that signing didn’t trigger a news alert for me.  ;)

He would've been a better fit here.

Goran signing with The Nets.

Quote
He played five games for the Toronto Raptors this season before mutually agreeing to allow him to work out away from the team until a trade could be found.

I guess it was not exactly "mutually agreeable" in PHI but this sounds a lot like Simmons situation.  I didn't realize that is why he hasn't been playing.  Toronto was a decent team.  He would have had a legitimate role.  Why wouldn't he play?

I get it, he liked Miami better than Toronto and wasn't happy about being traded.  What a collection of mal-contents they now have in BKN.

He'll probably help them though.  Decent back up for Kyrie.  Tough to ramp it back up at 35 though.  Let's see how that goes.

Kyrie, Mills and Dragic?  Plus Simmons?

I thought Milwaukee made more sense.

Any update on whether Gary Harris gets bought out? He’d be good fit here.

Yeah, I’d prefer Mills over Dragic as my backup pg at this stage too. Maybe he just wants a shot at a ring while riding the bench?

Probably, but Milwaukee is a favorite there, too.

My conspiracy theory:  the Nets re paying these guys under the table.  It doesn’t make sense that they get everyone they want.

Makes me think they aren't planning to use Simmons as a PG:

PG         Kyrie
SG        Curry
Wing     Durant
Swing    Simmons
Big        Aldridge

... that is how I would play it anyway.   Dragic, Mills, Harris, Griffin, Drummond, as the primary back ups.

Nets cut Jevon Carter to open a spot for Dragic. Wonder if the C’s would take a look for some additional bench depth.

I wouldn't put it past their ownership group to do that.

I don't think he wants to leave any money on the table.
