With both Richardson and Schroder (and Langford) out with only White coming back that can play PG/SG, has Stevens forced the coach to have to play at least one of them consistent minutes?

Or does Udoka counter with more Grant SF minutes?

If I had to guess I’d say more minutes for Pritchard. Nesmith just isn’t ready for big boy time.

Given that Nesmith is the only wing behind the Jays, we're going to need to play him minutes.

Hopefully, he can take a step forward.
2021 Houston Rockets
PG: Kyrie Irving/Patty Mills/Jalen Brunson
SG: OG Anunoby/Norman Powell/Matisse Thybulle
SF: Gordon Hayward/Demar Derozan
PF: Giannis Antetokounmpo/Robert Covington
C: Kristaps Porzingis/Bobby Portis/James Wiseman

I wonder if Steven agrees with that.   He did get some success out of him late last season when he got consistent minutes.

I don't think we'll see Pritchard.

I firmly believe this move was to shore up the PG spot with two big PGs who can play defense and facilitate their defensive game-plan. To avoid teams targeting our undersized PGs (Isaiah, Kemba, Schroder, Pritchard).

This was a move to stop Pritchard from playing. Not to open up playing time for him.

I'm mildly suprised that Pritchard is still here.

At the same time, now there are two larger PGs that Pritchard could play next to and be a shooter.

Agreed. I bet that’s the plan. White and Smart can guard the 2 while Pp guards the other teams PG.

I don't know ... the way Stevens and Udoka talk about defense and what Smart brings to the table at PG ... and the clear reluctance to start Smart + Schroder together instead preferring bigger defensive lineups.

I just do not think Pritchard is dynamic enough offensively (generates enough offense) for the team to sacrifice that defensive advantage of playing big at PG and avoiding matchups that can be exploited by the other team. Especially in the playoffs.

I see this as a move to keep Pritchard out.

I could see them moving Smart or D-White more to SG in the future if a better more dynamic offensive PG was acquired further down the road. Like say Damian Lillard. Or at a lesser level a Jalen Brunson. Not a spot up shooter like Prtichard who (so far) does not create much if at all off the dribble for either himself or his teammates.

It’s the only good thing about the trades. Pritchard is actually going to develop !

Read that they plan to convert Sam Hauser from 2 way to full time roster spot,  so maybe he will get his chances as well.

Hauser can shoot. Nesmith would be good if he can get that shot back. I liked what I saw from Thomas too.

I guess I'm in the minority since everyone is crapping on Romeo, but I think we should have kept Langford and included Nesmith if possible.  Romeo's numbers are improving while Nesmith is going the other way.  Romeo plays much better D, shoots better from 3, can create his own shot more effectively, rebound some....what I am missing?

I agree. Romeo could fill J Rich's minutes better than Nesmith.  I would not be surprised if Spurs preferred Romeo over Nesmith, but will probably never know.  Neither really earned the right to get a lot of minutes here.

Correction: Pritchard might be given a chance to develop.

That doesn't mean he actually will develop.
