Presumably a top-55 protected 2nd, but fingers crossed we got out 2027 pick back from them.  There had been rumors some teams wanted Dozier’s Bird rights.

Agreed.

So, net, we traded Tristan Thompson , the right for Memphis to swap 2026 #2s and cash for Bruno Fernando, Portland's 2nd rounder in 2023, and whatever the Magic pick is?

Is that right?

And that’s generally correct, yes.  I think Stevens did a solid job extricating himself from Thompson.

Yeah, I'm happy enough with that.

We need a new Tacko/Bol replacement now. Or maybe we just let Lucky play to save Wyc some cash.

Is the guy from The Air Up There available?

The Celtics are trading PJ Dozier and Bol Bol, for a future second, cash to the Magic for a second-round pick, sources tell ESPN. Dozier and Bol are both out for the season. Cost-savings for Boston.

I hope Brad didn't strain himself while making this deal.  #crap!

We open up a couple roster spots here.... but does that even matter if the Cs wish to stay under the tax?

For a team that has had consistency problems, Bol and Dozier were remarkably consistent in their Boston stint.

Hope there's another move but I guess I'll be surprised if there is.

I think anyone on the buyout would sign a vet minimum deal and please correct me if I'm wrong the vet minimum deals only half or like 60% of the salary counts towards the cap.

Years of Experience   Salary
0   $925,258
1   $1,489,065
2   $1,669,178
3   $1,729,217
4   $1,789,256
5   $1,939,350
6   $2,089,448
7   $2,239,544
8   $2,389,641
9   $2,401,537
10+   $2,641,691

Btw, it sounds like people are mistaken here about us actually getting a 2nd round pick in the deal. While that is technically true, it sounds like are giving one up, too. Let's hope the one we are getting isn't top-55 protected.

Someone signing a rest of year vet minimum deal would be paid a pro-rated portion of $1,669,178.  We're nearly three quarters of the way through the year, so the number is in the $400k range.

Teams pay a pro-rated amount of the 2nd year vet minimum at this point.

Yes, it's probably a pick downgrade, unless the Magic liked Bol enough to demand him instead of Fernando, and the Celtics come ahead slightly on the pick.

The future second-round pick the Celtics are receiving from the Magic in Bol Bol, PJ Dozier trade is heavily protected and likely won't convey, league sources tell MassLive.

Here's how the Celtics-Magic trade will likely work: 1. ORL waives E. Moore 2. ORL acquires B. Bol or P.J. Dozier 3. ORL waives B. Bol or P.J. Dozier 4. ORL acquires whichever guy they didn't acquire first Magic will likely keep one of Bol or Dozier (my guess is Bol) when done.
