76ers definitely NBA finalist if they add Harden. How they rebound so quickly after flipping Simmons for Harden and getting out of Horford's contract. Guess all the tanking does have some merits in some ways hahaha

I wouldn't say they are definitely an NBA finalist. It is great for them to get Harden when they are getting nothing out of Simmons, but they have also really just helped out the Nets. I think in a playoff series the Nets will absolutely crush the 76ers because the 76ers just solved all the Nets problems. They had no center and severely lacked shooting. They get one of the best shooters in the game and a major upgrade/depth at center. Plus Brooklyn seems like buy out central so I imagine they will add a good player or there two.

Lot of ways their starting lineup can go, but one possibility:

Irving
Curry
Simmons
Durant
Aldridge

Claxton
Harris
Buy out guys?

Maxey
Harden
Thybulle
Tobias
Embid

Green
Niang
Fork?

I like this for Philly but not sure about Brooklyn.  Kyrie and Durant get all the shots they want but Simmons needs the ball in his hands to be the best version of himself.  We will see how this plays out.  Philly on the other hand become instant favorites IMO along side Milwaukee.

BKN salvages something out of Harden rather than losing him for nothing but they are not going to be better this season for this trade.  Considering the alternative was to lose Harden for nothing, this is a good recovery for the Nets.

Philly gets to pair two of the best players in the game.  You couldn't ask for more to resolve the Simmons fiasco.

That is some incredible shooting in Joe Harris, Seth Curry and Patty Mills next to two incredible jump-shooting stars in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Even if Ben Simmons struggles offensively, they are so loaded in offensive talent they can cover his weaknesses. And Simmons' defense + rebounding will be invaluable next to those offensive orientated guys.

I love that team. That team should be a joy to watch.

They gotta get Kyrie playing home games though. I liked my idea in a different thread of just moving home games out of NYC and playing in some college arena instead. Let Kyrie play.

I think it helps both teams immensely. Ben helps Brooklyn's questionable defense. A lineup of Kyrie/Curry/Harris/Simmons/Durant should be able to run and gun, which seems to be how Nash wants to play. That lineup in transition will be something.

Wow 76ers also threw in two first round picks? Curious on the protection on those. Harden is 33 next season and Embid is always an injury risk.

How do you figure this doesn't improve the Nets this season? They got a starting quality NBA center where they clearly lacked depth, have a dramatic improvement on defense which was one of their biggest weaknesses, and add one of the best shooters in the game which they have severely lacked with Harris out. The Nets are an absolute juggernaut now and Harden and Irving were largely redundant, plus Harden was constantly injured.

The Nets will get the Sixers' 2022 first-round pick unprotected with a right to defer until 2023 and a 2027 first-round pick protected 1-to-8, sources tell ESPN. The 2027 pick would roll over to 2028 protected 1-to-8 again. The pick turns into two seconds and $2M in 2029.

That's protected pick is key for Philly.

Honestly, I think Morey did a good job. Kept the young guys he loved in Maxey and Thybulle. Yes, he moved tw o role players but they're not irreplaceable (wouldn't be surprised if they picked up DeMarcus Cousins to replace Drummond). The 2022 pick should be a late first and they're protected in the likelihood the wheels fall off by 2027.

Umm Drummond is like 5x the player that Cousins is. Cousins has been on 4 teams and ten day contracts in the last year for a reason. Also, Curry is an extremely elite role player. I will be very shocked if a healthy Nets team does not make the finals now.

It's not like Drummond is was playing big minutes though (less than 20). They can get someone to fill those minutes, doesn't have to be Cousins. The problem is if Embiid is injured, but if that happens, they have no shot at winning anyway.

And yes, the lost Curry who I like a lot, but they replaced him with Harden.

I mean most people feel the main reason the 76ers lost to the raptors was no backup center (they just got destroyed when Monroe played). The 76ers have struggled for basically Embid's whole career to find a decent backup for him and even spent a boatload of money trying to partially do it with Horford. There are not players of Drummond's caliber just sitting around waiting to be picked up. More importantly if both teams are at full strength, which is a big if how are the 76ers beating the Nets. Particularly in a playoff series I feel everyone would say Durant > Embid.
Are we saying Simmons AND Irving is > than Harden, Harris?

Curry, Drummond, Mills, Aldridge seems a lot better fro playoff basketball than Maxey, Thybulle, Greens carcass, Niang
