This is why having a good surrounding cast around the Jays is so important. When the Jays are struggling on those rare nights when both are way off, they need the cast to pick things up and help win a couple to three games a year.

That's what happened tonight. What I liked was that the Jays struggled but tried hard to do other things to help the team win. That's a sign of some maturity.

Agreed but they need a few shooters to accomplish this.  Need a better pg then Dennis.  The lineup with Grant Dennis Richardson doesn't scare anyone and it's normally where our leads evaporate.

I will say its nice to win one where the cs don't get the same calls as their opponent.

I would say this was not the norm but an outlier for this season. Cs need more production from the bench. It’s nice that the Jays got some help for once though.

But jrich and grant with Jay's creating for them is pretty darn good.the defense and energy will always be a fallback

Love the rotation right now, with Schroeder being the 8th man

Keep stacking up wins.  More, please.

Love seeing the supporting cast carrying more load tonight.  Smart, JRich, Grant.  We need that.

Exciting win.  Guys stuck with the system in the 4th quarter.  Ime directed them to let Smart set up the plays.  Rob really came up big in the end, that blocked shot was awesome.

Feel like they're really starting to jell.

I doubt we make any moves, with the possible exception of trading Schroder. No way they trade J Rich.  He brings too much energy. He was the difference tonight.

LaMello is special.  Really enjoy watching him play.  He is much quicker than I realized.

Assuming he doesn't check back in over the last 3:08, Dennis Schroder will finish at 16 minutes played tonight. He didn't play more than 17 minutes in any of the previous four games. His playing time has really been squeezed since the Celtics got fully healthy.

Even so, I don't see them relying on Pritchard as the back-up PG based on what little time he's seeing the floor.

We went 8 deep in the rotation, with 6 guys playing 30+ minutes. It's really poor coaching in my opinion, given that we are quite healthy.

Ime has been totally confounded by lineups and minute management all year.

Clearly doesn’t trust anyone outside that 8 man rotation.

I mean you gotta have scoring to win ,  the deep bench can’t buy a bucket ,  Ime is under pressure to win …..he has so few guys who can regularly make a bucket ,   He really has his back against the wall most nights depending on 3-4 guys to hit 90 percent of the shots .

Schroder is due a high scoring game , about every 4 th game he delivers .

This, and he is trying to find some consistency among that top-8.  It's not poor coaching.

I disagree.  We needed to win the game, and we didn’t have the room for error to see what one of Romeo/Pritchard/Nesmith would give us last night.  The Hornets also only played 8, with three of their players playing more than Brown’s 38 minutes.

The top 8 has been available for the longest period together all season, including training camp.  It’s important to a) win, b) let them get extended time together, and c) let the front office see how they play together in advance of the trade deadline.  I haven’t loved the rotations/minutes for a lot of the season, but I have zero problem with yesterday.
