As a discussion point:  McCollum is better than Evan Fournier, but how much better in your opinion?

I would say significantly. He's much more consistent offensively and he is a higher level scorer. You could say that Evan Fournier is an inconsistent 85% of CJ McCullom.

In your opinion, how do you weigh that into value?

If Fournier is worth two #2s and $19 million in free agency, then McCollum is worth _____ at $69 million over the next two seasons.

If Fournier is the market setter, than maybe his value is pretty neutral.  Horford and a #1 might not be crazy.

McCollum is in his 7th straight year of averaging over 20 ppg.  To compare him to Fournier is one of the most ridiculous takes this board has ever produced.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Lol.  And Fournier averaged 17+ points in four out of five seasons in Orlando, playing at a slower pace and putting up fewer shots.

McCollum:  19.0 ppg on 16.1 FGAs in Portland.  29.7 points per 100 possessions (on 25.1 FGA/100)
Fournier: 16.2 ppg on 12.9 FGAs in Orlando.  25.4 points per 100 possessions (on 20.2 FGA/100)

Ridiculous!  85.2% of the production, on 80.5% of the shots!  No comparison!

Fournier:  37.6% 3PT% / 50.8% 2PT% / .531 eFG% / .569% TS%
McCollum:  39.7% 3PT% / 48.6% 2PT% / .526 eFG% / .552 TS%

No comparison!

I think we are both right here. 85% of the production isn't that far, but the value of the difference of the last 15% is disproportionately far more valuable. As a player gets more elite at what he does, he gets more valuable on a sharp upward curve.

I'm not sure that I agree.  There's value at scoring more points at a similar efficiency, but I don't agree that the difference between 19 points versus 16 points is far more valuable, particularly when it comes at a faster pace.

Yeah, but what I don't think you are taking into account is that Fournier was on a fringe lottery team and was the primary ball-handler. CJ McCullom has been on playoff teams in a deep Western Conference as the secondary ball-handler.

Again, I think the comparison isn't that far off, but McCullom is clearly a better player and worth more. His contract is a bit much considering his age, which might take away from his value some, but I still think it swings in McCullom's direction significantly.
