We're back to this lol.

The truth is we have two small forwards that have exactly the same shortcomings. Both don't handle well, both volume shooters, both are streaky, both with low BBIQ, both have a poor mindset as to how to close a basketball game. When Marcus Smart sounded off, it was wrong of him, but it wasn't untrue.

To no surprise, the team concedes to them and reflects their shortcomings. They beat the talentless dregs of the league and struggle with the decent and top teams. Hence the .500 record.

This team is stuck between a rock and a hard place. If you trade away Brown, then deal with just Tatum as the sole superstar and build around him, you have to consider the possibility that Tatum eventually signs with LA. And the Celtics have bupkis.

I shudder to think of it...no J's. I can't help but think that ownership needs to bite the bullet and try to surround them with a better talent/leadership, and pay the tax or yes...blow it up.

Because these two couldn't lead a troop of girl scouts.

The Celtics actually have a very good record against good teams this year.
1957, 1959, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1981, 1984, 1986, 2008, 2024

The Celtics are 11-12 against teams above. 500, and 14-13 against teams under .500. The latter part is the issue with the Celtics.

Celtics are 3 games behind number 7 seed and we got a bunch of teams fighting for the 8th seed. The 7th seed is out of reach. Whoever is 8th seed will be dead in the first-rounds

If blowing it up, I'd prefer to get briefly worse...and get our own lottery pick this year.

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydy64hhc

-Tatum, G Will, Schroder, Bruno F. to Magic

-F. Wagner, J. Suggs, C. Okeke, G. Harris to Celtics, along with unprotected 2022 draft pick...

We get a Magic lottery pick and possibly a Celtic lottery pick (unless we do well after the trade, then our usual mid first rounder).

Plus:

Suggs, Pritchard   (Dozier)
Smart, J. Rich, Romeo, Nesmith  (Gary Harris expiring)
Brown, Nesmith, Romeo  (Gary Harris expiring)
F. Wagner, Horford, C. Okeke
R. Williams, Horford, Freedom   (Bol Bol)

I like Okeke...if he can get back to hitting 3's and being as good as in college...that's a sneaky get along with the whole trade, which is a massive gamble obviously.....

The Celtics probably have to go through the Hawks and/or the Hornets in the play-ins to even reach the first round of the playoffs. Based on these match-ups so far that's not likely to have a good outcome for us.

We need a major change or prepare for next year and beyond.

Ben Simmons is emphatically not the answer

I'm inclined to dump J Rich and Schroder, give Jaylen and Jayson a lot of nights off, and basically semi-tank.

The difference between selecting 10th or 15th in this draft could significantly affect our future.

Deal with the more major decisions (whether to trade Smart, e.g., which I currently don't favor) to the summer off-season.

Tatum alone would be worth that package plus another unprotected first or two.  not seeing what's so appealing about getting rid of our best player for a lot of players on one of the worst teams in the league
