to be the all time leader scorer when you combine the regular and post season totals.

Had to check, but it’s true.  Kareem is ahead in RS by about 2000 points. LBJ is ahead of Kareem in the playoffs by about the same, which is incredible if you consider the long career of Kareem and the fact that LAL usually made the playoffs.

Kareem didn't have the 3.

Before, was it 1983 or 1982, can't remember, you only had 3 best of 7 series to win the Championship and Kareem only made one or two Finals before teaming with Magic. So Lebron has played like 30 more playoff games than Jabber. So the lesser amount of playoff points makes sense.

That makes more sense than the impact of the 3-ball (sorry Liam).  I do remember those best-of-5-series.  They were over quick if you went up 2-0.

I don't disagree on more playoff games but LeBron has 2,079 3s. That's 2,079 extra points. Plus playing in a much softer era.

those early/mid 2010's Celtic-Heat playoff matchups were so frustrating due to the officiating. Lebron gets every single call

And Kareem despite being 7'2" has taken way less FT's then Lebron and is less than a percent better from 2pt range than Lebron even with the size and all those shots at the rim.  Lebron is very efficient as a scorer, especially for a wing.  And he obviously has had some struggles from the line, but still has a career average of 73.4% from there, which I'd bet is a lot higher than most people think.

Even though Lebron will end up with basically every career scoring record (not individual game or season ones), I don't think he really gets credit for being a great scorer.  I mean he is now in his 18th consecutive season of at least 25 ppg.  Only his rookie year was he below that.  Kareem only scored at least 25 ppg 10 times.  Even Michael only did it 12 times.  Mailman 12 times.  Kobe 12 times.  Wilt 10 times.  Durant is now doing it for the 13th time (but that includes his 27 and 35 game seasons along with just 36 so far this year and out at least another month).  The sort of volume from Lebron year in and year out for nearly 2 decades will never be matched (and he might actually hit 2 decades the way he looks this year, you could see him doing it 2 more).

Lebron also scores more than 4 ppg more than Kareem in the playoffs.  Kareem is at 24.31 (24th in NBA history) while Lebron is at 28.69 (6th in NBA history).  MJ leads the way at 33.45 followed by Iverson, Durant (29.5), West, and Mitchell (28.85 - great start to career by him).

This.

This. Also while I think he is a great player he has approach Westbrook levels of chasing stats recently. Wants to stay in games down 30 in the 4th to try and get his 20 or thirty points. There was a game the other day that the other team has conceded the game. Ran out the shock clock and started shaking hands and he ran in for a layup when they weren’t even trying to cut the lead to 9 at the buzzer. Some of that stuff really makes it harder to respect these accomplishments. Also pretty silly to add In playoff games when the previous eras had less potential playoff games. (Kind of why the nfl 17 game season has ruined records).

Also I will ad mo this is like the 20th career accomplishment I can remember you posting for Lebron (at least). I can’t imagine there is someone on liberty ballers or silver screen or roll regularly making updates on the accomplishments of curry. It’s gotten a bit over the top.

I agree. I have never seen any player even come close to Jordan — closest was Kobe. It looked like he was playing against little kids. One of the hardest working people that we’ve ever known out to prove to everyone that he was the best. The comparisons are apples to oranges.

That said, what LeBron is accomplishing is historically improbable. He’s not just an amazing basketball player, he’s a machine.

If LBJ had Michael's killer attitude, he'd not just be the best player ever, he'd be the biggest name in sports, ever.
