Do we legit think that if we swap JB for a Simmons or a Dame or a Murray or Simmons, that's not just a LATERAL move?

Honestly. That's the most sideways crap I've seen.

2 stars, does NOT make a team.

You need 3.

JKJB and get a third. We're the Celtics, not the Hornets.

Wait who'd the Hornets trade

Exactly. Even the Hornets wouldn't.

I meant we're a top franchise, not some crummy one :] We wanna contend. Sideways nonsense? Nah. Gimme a winner trade. Not a "ah yeh maybe this works" one.

Funnily enough, just watching some Hayward highlights the other day. Dude looks spry, and plays so loose like I've never seen him do before - lots of fancy passes. Lamelo Ball's brand of basketball is infectious as heck (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iS_55YrLiaI&t=186s&ab_channel=Z.Highlights).

Might be a bad example - cos the Hornets might just be falling upwards.

Ironically, the Pelicans might be a good example of what you referenced (from what I gather).

Horford and Fillers for John Wall anyone? I feel like this team lacks toughness, passing and leadership and I feel like he could provide all those things. It’s definitely a gamble but last time he played for the rockets he looked like he still has his superb quickness, and I think he would work great with timelord as well. Massive contract I know, but I feel like this is the closest to the suns/cp3 move that is out there, and he would be the best fit out of all the gettable third stars out there…

PG: Dragic, Ball, Carter
SG: Temple, KCP, Holiday, Washburn
SF: Richardson, Anderson, Parsons, Casspi
PF: Jackson jr, Beasley, Watanabe

Are the Hornets a contender though? Cuz I thought they were is Lamelo + Hayward. Isn't Rozier their number 3?

That's not a championship roster.

Which was my point :) 2 great players, rest ... well ... meh.

I really hope this franchise chooses the correct path and soon,

Same. I was quite confident that clearly the path had to be JT + JB, but the chemistry is not exactly like what we see in Phoenix, Utah, Golden State or even Chicago.

because in a few short seasons Jayson Tatum will be an unrestricted free agent, and in his prime... AND the Lakers will come calling for sure, they know he's a fan.

This is a huge concern, particularly since that would pretty much coincide with LeBron’s retirement, one would imagine.

AD and Tatum would be a phenomenal combo. LAL could put together an attractive offer.

Hornets stole our third, haven't been the same since.  I wouldn't put them in the same category as the Kings, for instance.

Man, the Hornets are beautiful to watch.

LaMelo is an extraordinary passer and ball-handler. Hayward is a strong ball-handler and passer. The two of them create such beautiful ball movement for the team.

And by playing the 2 and 3 they allow another ball-handler at PG in Terry Rozier to play. To make their offense more dynamic. And then they go small with Miles Bridges at PF who is lighting it up from three point range.

Such a dynamic offense and well chosen setup to maximize their talent in direct contrast to Boston with the iso-games of Jaylen & Tatum and setup created to reduce ball-handling and passing by playing two traditional bigs instead of going small at forward and enabling the offense by introducing two ball-handling passing guards who can shoot. Guys who can open up the offense and make Boston more dynamic.

Hornets are much more fun to watch than Boston. Despite having a similar W-L record, there is actual enjoyment when you watch that team play. That feels like a foreign concept to the Celtics at this point.

► JRich for Ingles or SloMo

► Timelord+Juancho+Bruno for Wood. The BYC rule would come into effect. It would have to be a 3-way with OKC absorbing Juancho's salary.

PG: Smart - Schroder - Pritchard
SG: Brown - Romeo
SF: Ingles - Nesmith
PF: Tatum - Grant
C: Wood - Horford - Freedom

That would be the 3rd best team in the East in my book.

If, as rumored, the Kings are sellers, what about: JRich, Juancho, and the Cs first, protected 1-12, for Barnes. Possibly you add a third team that wants JRich and could give Sacto a late first or early 2d.

Kings get a 1st likely to be 14-22, plus that second pick, plus start clearing their cap sheet sooner. If they are not in win-now mode it gives them good value and more flexibility.

Is that enough for the Cs to become contenders next year, given another year of development, the MLE, and whoever they can get at vet min?

I like a starting lineup of Smart-J-J-Barnes-Rob. Should be too-5 defense with more scoring than we have now. Barnes has to be respected at the 3-point line and knows how to drive a closeout. The Js have another year to learn how to play together, maybe Rob adds a wrinkle or two.

The bench needs help, but Grant and probably Pritchard are rotation caliber, and this is the kind of need that vet min and MLE players can fill. If we are really lucky Nesmith will find his stroke and we are in business.

How about Tatum for Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson and Spurs 2022 1st unprotected?

I think the Spurs would do it, and it makes us a better team.

If all you wanted was nothing more than an echo chamber, why ask for trade ideas? There are a bunch of really good ideas where the team keeps both Jays in this thread. Why not comment on them?

Come on.  The team that gets the best player in the trade usually is the winner.

I agree, why deal with reality when hyperbole is much more entertaining.

Wall, a protected pick and Wood
for
Smart, Al, Juancho and Bruno

Appeals to me if Wall has a Rose level impact in him.

Wall/Schro/ PP
Brown/Josh
Tatum/Lang
Wood/ Grant
TL/Kanter
