Has he not been playing very well for Denver?

Did his play dip or something? I remember reading how happy Denver were with Jeff Green and well he was fitting alongside Jokic. That Jeff Green was exactly what they needed in a way that Jaymychal Green and Paul Millsap were not.

He has been playing very well all season for Denver.

Nuggets need scoring with MPJ gone for the season and Murray yet to return, the Celtics should offer Schroder (contracts match) for Green.

Green does have a two year deal, but next season is a player option, so I’d gather Stevens would want some assurances Green would be interested in staying.

I would still do the trade even if Green doesn't agree to stay.   Schroder isn't fitting and he is helping Tatum and Brown right now.   Maybe Green could this season.

Schroeder might fill in nicely both in the short and long term next to Jokic no?

Just because a rumor says C's want Green doesn't mean Denver wants to deal him.
The C's suck and there's no hope on the horizon for any major improvements. We need to get very lucky in this next draft or somehow attract a FA that was bought out and then make some kind of a deals based on that depth. But the trade deadline will come and go and we will likely lose whatever depth we do have (DS, AH, JR) for a boatload of 2nd rounders. Yay!!
Just think if we kept Gordon H. Nice lineup with 3 good shooters and 2 good defensive/athletic players at the end of games rather than one option in Tatum. Get Smart off the floor at end of games so he doesn't do the stupid things he usually does.

How does this look?

https://fanspo.com/nba/s/general/trades/eHO0A_QItZsHhw/celtics-want-jeff-green-back

Denver in:
Dennis Schroeder
Aaron Nesmith

Boston in:
Jeff Green
Austin Rivers
Bones Hyland

Denver needs a bit more scoring in the backcourt until Jamal Murray returns and Dennis Schroeder has proven to be a versatile option both starting and off the bench. Denver gets a mature prospect in Nesmith who could use some more consistent opportunity and might be an ideal off ball fit with Jokic.

Celtics get back the steady hand in Jeff Green and replace Schroeder's ball handling with Austin Rivers. Celtics also come away with an intriguing prospect in Bones Hyland to compete with Payton Pritchard for the first guard off the bench spot.

Monte Morris is a great backup PG and Jamal Murray will return this season as their star starting PG.

I see no role for Schroder to fill other than as an injury replacement until Murray returns. That is not worth giving up a quality rotation player in Jeff Green -- someone you will need in the postseason after Murray returns unlike Dennis Schroder who they will no longer need.

I take the report with a major grain of salt. It could be that Green’s name came up in conversations between the team at one point, and that’s it.

From my perspective, given that Green is 35, a reserve at best, and has a 4.5m option for next year, the only reasons the Celtics acquire him would be:

- They think he’d be a god veteran presence to help the young guys mature.
- They take on his contract along with something of value that they can throw into a bigger trade this summer. That is, they trade Schroeder in exchange for Green and a pick.

Why include AN when Schroder for Green and Hyland works straight up? Since Green's contract has this and next year guaranteed (edit: maybe seeing conflicting information) the Nuggets need to attach assets to get off it next year salary cap. It cost the Cs a late first to get off EK(F)'s salary, even though he's a useful player why would it be different for Denver and Green. In this case Hyland equivalent to the late round pick

According to Hoopshype it's a straight up guaranteed contract. Sportrac has it as a player option.  Not sure what site is more reliable.

I think the Nuggets value Bones higher than Nesmith.  They are not giving up Green and Bones for Schroder.

not interested in Green at all.  I remember his time in Boston as frustratingly inconsistent.   snoozed his way through 4-5 games then have a break out game where everyone would think maybe he's figured it out but then right back into snoozing through more games.

What does Green do for us?

He has value next to Jokic as a cutter and finisher.  I don't think our offensive system values off-ball movement enough to take advantage of a skillset like that.  We'd rather ask our players to sit in the corners and provide spacing, but Green is bad at that.

Seems like a poor fit imho.
