For those who don't know Tyler, he's a producer for WEEI and is from Indiana.  He's not "connected" as a writer, but it's intriguing, and I'd say yes for sure.  Only issue, our PG or Ball Handler depth is impacted.  There would probably have to be another move unless Ime suddenly has renewed faith in PP.

Celtics get: Kevin Love, future first-round pick swap.

Cavs get: Al Horford, Dennis Schroder.

yeah no thanks.  Love can still score but he's 33, lost a step and needs the ball in his hand a lot.  He's still owed 29m next year.  The cavs just traded for Rondo as well.  I'm ok with these two getting moved but Love isn't the bad contract they need to get better.  the 1st round swap is interesting pending what year it is.

While I think Love's shooting could help the team, his contract is too much next year.   The Cavs need to throw in 2 1st round picks (not swaps)

horrible deal.  C's give up the 2 better players for the lesser player on the worst deal and a pick swap that won't occur because the C's have the worse record.

I’ve been watching Cavs games recently and Love has been playing very well. He’s being utilized more as a floor spacer rather than as a post up guy. Of course Cleveland has Mobley and Allen down low so Love complements their game nicely. If he were to join the Cs, would he be asked to play more at the post since JT and JB are our perimeter guys? One thing’s for sure though, he can still shoot the 3 ball very well.

My initial reaction  was "No way, Love is on a terrible contract." But his contract is the same length and roughly the same size as Horford's contract, so that's less of an issue. Its basically a trade of big man defense, for big man shooting, and since the c's need shooting I think its at least defensible.

Now I don't think Cleveland does it actually. They already have Allen, Mobley, so their need for a center who can't hit threes isn't that high, even if Schroder would help.

Cleveland would be saving what, $24 million or so on next year’s books if they stretched Horford?

That’s worth at least a first rounder and probably more.

Interesting idea. If we do not trade Horford in a package for a star, then this type of idea is a good fall-back option. Swap Horford's semi-guaranteed contract for a fully guaranteed one and get a pick for our troubles.

I think calling Horford better than Love is a major stretch. If the Cavs would give up meaningful draft or player capital, it's the kind of deal the Cs need to consider. Our talent cupboard is pretty bare.

The Al Horford who started the season was.  The Al Horford who has crashed and fallen back to earth is not fulfilling his role well.  Still plays ok D but can't space the floor or hit the broad side of a barn.  He's left so open now like Smart because no one cares if they shoot.

not a stretch at all.  Horford's 3 shooting has gone in the tank but his D has not.  can also make his shots around the basket but the team's offensive philosophy sticks him out behind the 3 line which is foolish.  Love's D is horrible.

in terms of contracts, Al's is a better one for trades since it's only partially guaranteed next year as opposed to Love's which is for the full amount.  Not against moving Al and definitely not against moving Shroder but I want something better than Love and a pick swap that won't happen coming back.   that Love contract would be a real negative asset this offseason.

would still have a hard time agreeing to making the deal if the swap were just the first rounder without strings attached since it's going to be in the 20's anyway.

I heard about the Love proposal. Sounds OK. Love can still play, but the Cavs have younger guys they want to play.

I also heard Collins is upset in Atlanta, and Philly is aiming to package Simmons and Harris in any deal.

So, using Brown as the bait, something should be possible.

The Celtics need to do a deal within the next week or so. Brown probably has to go.

They can get Love for lesser players. But Simmons or Collins could be doable. I like Simmons because he fits their needs--somebody who wants to pass the ball.

The salary savings and on court production of DS seems worth more then a pick swap. I suspect DS could land Cs a late 1st on his own.

I wonder if Celtics can trade DS to Jazz for a future 1st, then wait till draft day and trade ALs contract for Love and a pick on draft night.
