How many wins do you think we’ll end up with, now that we’ve seen 2.5 months of up-and-down play?  Despite what we’ve seen, I’m not completely down on this team year, and think we’ll go 30-16 the rest of the way, putting us at 47-35 if my math is correct, winding up in the 4th-6th seed range.

If the C's actually finish with close to 50 wins by the end of the season despite how it started then hell, throw a parade for that lol.

I just don't know. You see flashes but that's been the case for the last few seasons. Since the Bubble (2020) the C's have played 100+ games and been a .500 team pretty much since.

I need to see them win more consistently, but otherwise I think they'll probably go something like 25-21 in the final 46, to finish with a 42-40 record or something like that.

I'm also interested in seeing what trade(s) they actually make. Does Brad Stevens break the Ainge-method of standing pat and be active at the deadline with an impact move or two? We'll see.

Not sure how many wins but:

1. I think when they get fully healthy, they’re the second best team in the East behind Brooklyn.

2. I think they go on a tear from now through the end of February and climb up to so where between the #3 and #5 spot and stay there.

Why?

I think the talent is there and they also have the requisite athleticism, size and strength at all positions to compete with anyone. Ime has his weaknesses, but one thing he’s done is to get them to play hard, physical basketball most of the time.

Their main issues are inability to focus and fight for the full 48 (part of this probably has to do with thin rosters and fatigue).

But they’ve lost “a lot” of games after big leads due to lack of grit and determination down the stretch - I’m sure they’re working on this mental aspect daily. If that comes together - they’ll be a force.

I think they’ll get there. Ime has to Hammer Tatum and Brown on continuing to move the ball.

We could make a real nice run.

Stevens job in the off-season is to find that last piece to go with Tatum and Brown. Doesn’t have to be an all star, but a really solid guy at the four or the point. Then the team goes next level.

I’d also add that Tatum and Brown are both still young. The NBA is a man’s game. Both of these guys need to get meaner, tougher and have a close/kill mentality - that’s the next step for both.

Until they get there other guys will be more than happy to steal their candy - and will.

One of my favorite things I heard from Ime this season was telling Tatum to get meaner. Ime is 100% on point with that comment.

I don't think this team has what it takes this year. They sleep on lesser opponents, and when they show up they sometimes lose to greater opponents which will impact their record at the end. We're past the 20 game test. We're almost halfway through the season. Brooklyn, Chicago, Milwaukee run the east.

That being said, 43 wins.

This team is too good to be a 0.500 team so I can’t see them finishing at 41-41. That said, 42-40 or 43-39 is probably the end result.

I also think we’re talented enough to survive the play-in and make the playoffs

They're much better talent wise than a .500 team but they're too inconsistent to make the most of it. I'm expecting somewhere between 38-42. Caveat: I reserve the right to change my prediction if Brad makes a splash during the trade deadline.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Imagine if this thread was made before the PHX game. There would be a lot more votes in that 38-41 range. Glad to see people haven’t completely given up on the team, though.

Before the season, I said they finish 6th/7th in East & think still will depending on injuries
C/PF-Horford, Baynes, Noel, Theis, Morris,
SF/SG- Tatum, Brown, Hayward, Smart, Semi, Clark
PG- Irving, Rozier, Larkin

The end of season schedule is very easy.  If the team has reasonable health they will finish something like 26-12
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

That's only 74 games,
I'm with Celtics2021, 30-16 5th in the conference. Top 6 defense.

Same caveat though. I don't know if assuming reasonable health, is a reasonable assumption for this team.

I will go with 42-40 on the year, schedule gets a lot easier, but we are still inconsistent at times and will blow some very winnable games.
But we improve somewhat.
