Anyone think if Rubio goes down for awhile Cleveland would be interested in trading for Schroder?

Cavs probably eager to make some noise this year, having a good season

anything decent we think we could get from them for DS?

seems like we'll need to take advantage of some teams desperation to get anything back for him

could cavs be that team?

I don’t want any players, but would be very interested in their 1st…and getting under the tax this season

Getting their first no realistic. I agree there's no one on roster who would be realistically given up in a trade for Schroder, maybe Windler, who came out of college an elite shooter.

Best we can expect is a couple of 2nds, or a swap of firsts, which doesn't work so long as they have a better record, which is likely.

I think you’re right. The best we can expect I think is two 2nds. If Schroeder put a contender over the top maybe we’d get something a little better but I don’t think that scenario is around right now.
I get so lost in the rules of trades and the money but I DID wonder if a contender would love Schroeder/ Horford combo to put them over but I can’t put any trade like they through that really works.

If they want Schroeder I will drive him to the airport. I’d take a second, which comes with salary relief and playing time for Pritchard. If they need to send salary they should send us a third string point guard as insurance in case PP and Smart are out.

I don't agree.  I've already read that they want to make a playoff push and if they come knocking for DS, then it's going to cost them a 1st.

I honestly don't know whether Schroder will be worth 2 2nds or a late 1st - guess it really depends on how much interest there is and if a team is willing to outbid another team for his services. He really is in a pretty unique situation, given that he is very good player in his prime on a really low contract.

As I mentioned, unless we are getting a young up and coming prospect with potential, I am all about taking back no salary and sending Parker along with him, so that we can get under the tax.

why worry about the tax?  the front office didn't when it extended Smart and Richardson.

not against trading DS if this team is still sucking wind at the trade deadline but would like to get back something better than a couple of late second rounders.  a late first (unlikely) or a young player that might improve in a new environment that could fill a hole in the rotation if they pan out.

Schroder is best going to a real contender who have serious hopes of a ring. They may over-pay for him, who knows.

But more interesting imagine...the Cavs are having a solid year, and us with our famous J's sit below .500.

Sometimes I feel like the team should pay the fans a tax for making us watch them.  These last couple of weeks have been excruciating.

What about Schroeder for Sexton?  We are not getting very far this year anyway and if they want to make a push and feel Schroeder is the missing piece, would that be doable?  I would throw in Nesmith or even Grant Williams if they want a young player too.

No Bird rights diminishes his trade value significantly.

Rubio is down with an ACL.  Cleveland is having their best season since LeBron left — I could see a lotteryish-protected first being possible.  People make a big deal about Bird rights, but there are very few teams with cap space next year, and there’s a good chance Cleveland could resign him with a 1+1 at the full MLE, which would give them Early bird rights in two seasons.

Curious to see what Cleveland does about this — Rubio is a huge loss.  They should get an injury exception for him, which would allow them to trade for someone making $9 million or less and on an expiring deal, which are both characteristics of Schröder’s contract.

I feel bad for Cleveland. With a healthy sexton, Rubio they could have won 45-50 games. Garland and Allen have made big leaps and could both be all stars. Plus Mobley is incredible.

Here's a Schroder trade I'd be happy with:

I reckon we need a pass-first, low-usage player (not necessarily a PG). Tyus Jones fits the bill. Maybe the Griz send us a second rounder or something. Not sure whether Wyc would give the go-ahead cause he'd have to pay a bit more in lux tax. If history is any indication, Wyc is cheap.

Not sure what this has to do with the Rubio injury.
