I am a huge PP fan.   But I have to say -- I think the C's have 3 guys who are effective back-up PGs.  Of the 3 I favor Pritchard as the starter.  He dives right in offensively -- good/reliable handle, he moves the ball, his 3 is ready, and defensively he is active.   Smart is obviously the better defensive player, but to start a game, I vote for Payton.  Schroder has had big games offensively and is a contributor, but he's inconsistent and I like him off the bench.    Best of all worlds (IMO) the C's get there hands on a true starting PG (preferably with some size) and Pritchard gets 20-25 mpg as back-up PG and occasional 2.

If the best case scenario is Pritchard at the backup PG with 20-25 mpg, that's what the Celtics should do without the extra details you started with.

I agree that Brad needs to deal with the Smart/Schroder issue. But at the very least they should try to develop a well-rounded roster ASAP.

15.5 ppg 29 mpg By far Ime's biggest mistake was kicking him out of the rotation because he started off cold.

He was in my mind the best shooter on the team last year.  That doesn't just stop overnight.  I mean we NEED shooting and this can does that from anywhere on the court.

Time to dump Smart and Free fast PP

yeah, i fear smart has become the antoine walker of this team

good guy / good player

but will we ever be able to move forward with him here?

I agree.

But it's not just his shooting.

When he is our point guard, the ball movement is much better.  And he is getting increasingly better at attacking the paint and making plays. He missed some bunnies in the lane last night that he will usually make.

I'm team Payton.
So what are his actual assist numbers?  Guys like him mostly move the ball because they can’t get their own shot.  Yes, that can be good sometimes but it shouldn’t be credited to his playmaking or anything.  For whatever his numbers are, I’m not sure PP is making us better.

Paul Pierce is no longer on the team.
