15.5 ppg 29 mpg By far Ime's biggest mistake was kicking him out of the rotation because he started off cold.

He was in my mind the best shooter on the team last year.  That doesn't just stop overnight.  I mean we NEED shooting and this can does that from anywhere on the court.

Time to dump Smart and Free fast PP

I agree.

But it's not just his shooting.

When he is our point guard, the ball movement is much better.  And he is getting increasingly better at attacking the paint and making plays. He missed some bunnies in the lane last night that he will usually make.

I'm team Payton.

I also agree. I've been saying all season give him 20+ minutes and let him run the offense.  After watching the last 5 games give him 30m/g and tell him to shoot at least 10 3s/g.

Schroder should never get another start so long as Pritchard is available to play.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Agree w all the above.
I think given time and a chance to grow he’s got the skill set and potential to become an above average consistent starting true point guard.
Gotta give him a chance more.
Why not at this point ?

I mean didn't he have that injury to his nose or something and had to wear a mask? Lost his mojo for several games. But sure blame the coach here.

Exactly, his broken nose and wearing a mask completely threw off his game and confidence. nobody's fault.

Okay he broke his nose, but Ime is still very much a suspect coach.

Schroder is far more capable of running the offense and is more dynamic with the ball.  I have no problem taking some of Smart's minutes and giving them to Pritchard though.  Smart is the one that needs to have his role reduced as he just can't control himself.  I think Smart's new nickname should be Westbrook because that is how he plays.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

Schroeder is top ten in the NBA for time he holds the ball each possession. He is not a good pick and roll point guard and his assist to turnover ratio and raw assist numbers are both inferior to Smart. He has one elite skill, which is hunting a lane to get his own shot at the rim. When he is in, the offense is very much my-turn your-turn. Or sometimes, my turn my turn. I’m not saying Smart is an ace point guard, he’s not. But he’s clearly less ball dominant and more pass oriented.

Just likely reinforces the notion that Schroder is likely getting traded. Glad PP playing better. They will need that production once Schroder is gone.

Love his handle. Doesn't attempt wasting dribbles.

I am a huge PP fan.   But I have to say -- I think the C's have 3 guys who are effective back-up PGs.  Of the 3 I favor Pritchard as the starter.  He dives right in offensively -- good/reliable handle, he moves the ball, his 3 is ready, and defensively he is active.   Smart is obviously the better defensive player, but to start a game, I vote for Payton.  Schroder has had big games offensively and is a contributor, but he's inconsistent and I like him off the bench.    Best of all worlds (IMO) the C's get there hands on a true starting PG (preferably with some size) and Pritchard gets 20-25 mpg as back-up PG and occasional 2.
