Fast approaching my mea culpa moment with Stevens, Udoka and the Celtics. If this is the desired version of the Celtics then I'm pleased beyond recognition to be proven wrong.
I'm giving lots of credit to the players thus far, but the ball movement has certainly improved.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

... not the defense? Odd.

The defence has always been strong, our collection of defensive talent is probably league-best, and it was Udoka's reported strength coming in. I'm not overly surprised that our defence is so good.

Our defence was painful to watch for a long time there (which surprised me). It has been quite a lot better as of late. Hence more credit to Ime for that I reckon.

Rofl.

Was curious to see how the White trade ranked in his Pitino-Stevens comparison.

I'm giving lots of credit to the players thus far, but the ball movement has certainly improved.

We've seen the Celtics go on runs like this before so while I'm guarded and cautiously optimistic (although I do wonder if the 3pt shooting is sustainable), it's pleasing to see the Celtics attempting to play team basketball and as you identified, many of us called for this ball movement for years, to finally see it happening is, well, encouraging. Fingers crossed it's a feature not a fad.

Like 3 of the last 4 games they played, they shot the 3 at under 30% for the game and still won by double digits in 2 and by 6 against a very good Denver club.

The pattern I am seeing is when those threes are going down, they aren't just winning, they are crushing the competition. So maybe, the shooting the threes isn't sustainable, but maybe it won't make a difference because their defense is off the charts good and the real difference making factor in this winning turnaround.

I criticized Ime for several things including his rotations and seemingly not putting the bench in a position to win. Subsequently, I knew we had to be patient with him because of his lack of experience, the lack of health, and the subpar performance of the roster.

This team with sustained health and change of personnel has displayed the potential I’ve touted since the preseason.

He’s helped them realize how great of a team that they are especially defensively and they’re winning regardless of their offensive performance. Winning games when the offense isn’t playing well is essential to being a winning team and that’s exactly what they’re doing.

The final step for this team is becoming a great closer and Tatum becoming The Man (be ready to match Giannis or KD in a playoff series) and, suddenly, this is a Championship team.

Might be trying to find out if Pitino ever had a false dawn like Ole Gunna Solskaer did  ;D

Exactly. The defense has been great every game. The passing good to great. That’s enough to win a bunch of games even if the shooting is meh. If the shooting is hot? You get what happened to Philly.
