Realistically speaking Detroit will seek Smart + Timelord. Which I have to say I would be willing to do.
This rotation is a competitive team:
1. Dennis Schroder
2. Jaylen Brown
3. Jayson Tatum
4. Jerami Grant
5. Al Horford
Bench: Pritchard, Nesmith, Freedom, G. Williams, Langford
If Stevens traded Timelord for Grant, he should be fired that day.
Why? He is often injured and projects to have significant health issues.
I’m so tired of this forum being so committed to this s show of a team. Why the loyalty? It’s like we are comfortable being mediocre.
Because Williams is a very unique player (locked into a cheap contract) who has a highly positive effect on the team without needing the ball. Not once in his life has he dribbled around for 15 seconds then chucked up a contested 3. So if you're tired of this team, trade one of the guys who do it every game.
He's literally the opposite of what ails this team. And if / when the Cs get a real PG, that positive effect is going to keep going up and to the right. You keep him.
You have to give to get. And Marcus is one of those ailments you point out. And if we know this, the receiving team also does. Which is why you have to balance the package with a player who might be painful to lose (RWIII).
Sure you do. But you don't have to give up Timelord to get Jerami Grant. And you shouldn't. And Stevens better not, or he's a fool.
TL shouldn't be a deal breaker. The guy lacks the number one ability of any good player, "availability". The C's laid down millions in "games played a season" incentives and he still getting dnps.
Sure. Then we better dump Jaylen Brown too. And the Sixers should have shipped Embiid at Williams' age. And the Wolves shouldn't have taken Steph Curry.
But hey, let's trade for a guy who is about to rack up a couple months of DNPs because he injured his shooting hand!
Good news is Boston won't trade for Grant, so this point is moot.
Comparing all-stars with TL
Arguing trading a really good young player because of his lack of availability for a guy who just went down with a shooting hand injury until gosh knows when.......

Really good young player? He is averaging 9pts 8rebs 2blk in 27 mins. That is mediocre for 27 mins of action. You compared him to all stars who all made an impact the league before 24. TL's career average is something like 6/6. TL has also played in less than half the games possible in 4 seasons including missing more games as the penciled in starter. So yes I would trade him for a guy who should recover from a thumb sugery like numerous NBA players have also recovered from. When is TL going to recover from his absenteeism?
You're not a believer in Williams -- got it.
I don't feel the need to give up a bunch of stuff for an injured guy who duplicates what we already have, but isn't as good as two such players we already have when he's not injured. I'd rather have Williams -- much less him, Smart and a 1st round pick for said injured guy (who duplicates what we already have, but isn't as good as two such players we already have when he's not injured). It's an overpay, and one the Cs especially shouldn't make considering Grant is a lousy fit.
Let's move on.
No one said Smart, TL and a first. The first was for other lesser combinations.
Why are you so worried about the thumb? Smart, Langford and JB all had that injury with the C's and bounced back. Schro is also a guy that had thumb injury. It's a common basketball injury. Why don't you address TL's issues? Why ignore his issues?
As for lousy fit didn't we all say the team lost something when Hayward (a wing) left? We see Smart clashing with this team. We see TL missing time and being out played by average Al. Time to move on alright, move on from Smart and TL.
