I think the biggest mistake the franchise has made over the past few years has been to worry too much about equal value and too little about building a complementary core. Years have gone by without a strong move for a playmaker or a power forward that can elevate the team, and some of those precious assets have naturally deteriorated anyway.
We need two pieces. We already have some potentially solid rotation guys, so it just comes down to how much we need to ship out to get the two starters we need. I could care less about whether we overpay any more, and I don't think we need stars, just the right guys.
I want a playmaker first, but Jerami Grant would fit this group at the 4 very nicely. Marcus Smart plays hard, but he doesn't complement Tatum and Brown enough for how much he costs.
