Obviously Detroit is on a multi-year build and Jerami Grant has been rumored to be available. He is at the height of his value (maybe slightly higher last year). Either way, he is a player I’ve always liked.

Celtics trade: Marcus Smart + Grant Williams + Future 1st round pick

Pistons trade: Jerami Grant

No thanks.  Nothing against Jerami Grant, but that's a major overpay for a guy who can walk after next season.  Dude's a starter, not a star.

He has the potential to be the 3rd part of the equation or becomes a more valuable trade chip to acquire the 3rd piece.

His defense and length combined with RWIII would give other teams fits. Plus he would allow for so many mismatches with Tatum against SF in terms of height advantage.

I’m probably in the the minority here but I hope to see the Cs use a combination of R Will, Schroeder, and this 1st to try to obtain a Jerami Grant level player. Long term I don’t trust Williams to stay healthy and think cashing in as quick as possible is what’s best for this team long term.  I’m not sure that Detroit would be interested in that package.

No he doesn't.  He's scoring a lot because he's taking a ton of shots on a bad team.  Put him on a team with better options, and he's a 15/5 guy at best, who offers decent defense.  Again, a starter (who's paid $20 million), not a star.

Yea I like him as a 4th guy, but definitely don't view him as a third star. Similar to Schroeder.

Yes.  The question is more better than Grant and a pick, and in that I don't know.  I'm just done with Smart, so I'd make any more that got rid of him at this point.

I'd be okay with Smart and TL straight up for Grant and KO. Tired of the 26% from three nights from the team. Also tired of the TL DNPs.

TL would be great on a tank team. Sit him against other bad teams and call it a flareup. If against good teams he isn't enough to help you win but can sometimes look good, giving you a draft day trade chip.

I think the biggest mistake the franchise has made over the past few years has been to worry too much about equal value and too little about building a complementary core. Years have gone by without a strong move for a playmaker or a power forward that can elevate the team, and some of those precious assets have naturally deteriorated anyway.

We need two pieces. We already have some potentially solid rotation guys, so it just comes down to how much we need to ship out to get the two starters we need. I could care less about whether we overpay any more, and I don't think we need stars, just the right guys.

TP! This couldn’t be more true. Jerami Grant would create so many issues for other teams in terms of matchups and create an offensive advantage for Tatum with size advantage over most SF. He also would add a defensive presence and intensity which would soften the loss of Marcus.

I’ve had enough of Marcus. I love him dearly and he has bled green but he is such a numb skull sometimes and he is constantly blaming his teammates for his mistakes on the court. He has been enabled by being anointed our team leader. He is the perfect cost controlled guard for a team like Detroit. Grant Williams  also comes with cost control. Would seem to fit their need to build towards the youth movement and watch Cade Cunningham become the centerpiece of that offense (which he is already becoming).
