Okay, I gotta say....

We did not "almost" land Durant. The c's may or may not have been his second choice. It feels like a lot of people have reported it like that, and maybe its even true, but even if it did that doesn't mean the c's were close to signing him.

The Warriors targeted the cap space in the summer that Durant would be a free agent. They courted him hard. They'd been to back to back NBA finals. They were in a glamour market. They were clearly, far and away, his first choice. The c's being a distant maybe second doesn't make it close.

As for Irving the mistake there was not that he walked away for nothing, its that the C's EVER EVEN TRADED FOR HIM. The guy is a nutjob who isn't playing this year because of vaccination. I don't care what the c's do from here on or what he does with the rest of his career. I'm glad I don't have t convince myself to root for that guy.

Someone’s gotta take the blame for this mediocrity. When JB knew his place as a member of the supporting cast, we were a lot better off. We’ve stunk ever since we’ve made JB the number two, and he’s not even fine being the beta to JT’s alpha. It’s like increasingly  trying to field a team with two Carmelo Anthony wannabes and it’s not working. Dump one and see if the other wisens up and tries to be more like KD and less like Carmelo.

"When JB knew his place?"  Seriously?  Is this a personal thing?  It sounds like it.

He's not fine being "the beta to JT's alpha?"  Based on what?  I've never seen any sign that Jaylen is displeased with his role next to Tatum, and I still have no clue how this pertains to the road trip we just flunked.  Again:  why are you blaming Brown for the problems that are obviously still present when he isn't on the court?

I don't understand this attempt to make Jaylen the fall guy for this team's present state.  "Someone's gotta take the blame?"  Try everybody.

Problem with this team is not displeasure about roles. The problem is their are no defined roles. They just do what pleases them at any given time.
Sounds like a problem with the guy responsible for defining roles on the team :-\

AH HA!! back to the coach.

Nah man, the NBA screwed the entire league by giving every team a huge bump in Salary cap space that one season because of TV revenues---which was the ONLY reason Durant could sign in GS....I think they should have just given every player an across the board raise. Jerry West talked Durant into signing with the Warriors at the last minute too.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Nah, Atzar's right. It's everyone's fault.

It Brad's fault for putting together a seriously flawed team with bad shooters, guys that don't like to pass and hiring the disappointing coach.

It's Udoka's for having such a short bench, overplaying his vets, having a bad offensive system, being a bad ATO playmaker, calling out his players publicly, and insisting on playing that switch everything defense way too long.

It's the player's fault for giving bad effort, not playing within the system(even if it is a bad system), not moving the ball enough, not being ready to produce at the start of games, the younger group not developing and almost every player playing some terrible basketball.

It's fortune's fault for giving 3 of our top players injuries that have cost the C's 27 player games between them.

It the NBA's fault for giving the team the most road games thus far with the 6th tough strength of schedule.

No one person or thing is to blame and it's everyone's responsibility to fix things. Certainly trading Jaylen is not the solution and will only compound the issues.

TP. Simple but true assessment.

Remember when we had Kyrie, Hayward, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Rozier.....

I do and it went to hell in a handbasket real quick.  Danny had a plan and delivered on the plan.  Fate saw otherwise!

Literally for every thread bagging on the management of assets, this comment should be repeated for all of them.

Literally just a couple years removed from the abovementioned players, and in the past couple years we had Kemba Walker. This is a retooling year.

  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
This thread is about Durant not JT and JB. What if's are what they are. If Durant would have blessed the Celtics it would surely help us get players like the Lakers do. We have hurt ourselves with Thomas, KI and Heyward in FA signing. Kemba too. We shall see how this plays out. Maybe Beal will come here to play with JT and help our reputation. But it would have been sweet to have KD he loves Basketball like a Celtic should. A man can dream.

Don't be fooled by the thread title or first few sentences of the original post, this thread was meant to be critical of Jaylen Brown and blame him specifically for Kyrie and Hayward leaving and the team being a .500 team over their last 100 games or so.

TP to that. I'd rather have JB (playing his heart out) than Kyrie (whining his heart out) anyway.

But I've gotta give Ainge mad TPs for getting TB12 to fly in for the bake-off.

No

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Maybe I oughta change your name from GreenlyGreenly to ConjectureConjecture :]

This is some grasping at straws my dude. I know it's fun and all to love a team, and think about them a lot, but don't let your mind run off too much.

Realise that we don't know a LOT of what's playing. For all we know, Dennis might be a locker room cancer. Al might have drinking issues and beat up Tatum when he shows up to practice all liquored up. Heck, maybe Danny left because Brad slept with his son.

Or maybe there's just nothing ado at all.

We just simply don't know, and speculating things about this is ... well it's kinda weird? And creepy? The examples I gave might be a bit wild, but that's how yours feel as well buddy.
