I will be really p---ed if we lost one of the best GMs in the game for the boy scout Brad Stevens. If Ainge has retired for good? Fair enough. If he goes back to work quickly with another team, then it was not a retirement but him leaving or being pushed out and that is a huge loss for the team.

Ainge is 62 and had some health issues.

Does he really want to throw himself back into that game?

Especially a team where he likely is going to have to trade his best player and start a rebuild?

Ainge was at his best in rebuilding situations.  He struggled with maintaining or improving on teams that weren't rebuilding.

I feel like the integrity of such a trade would be heavily scrutinised.

Especially if it's something like Al Horford, Smart and picks for Dame :P

Ainge one of the best? I haven't seen championships in the last 13 or 14 years, and before that it was a 22-year drought.

It'd be nice if Ainge overpays for a free agent if he was operating with Portland.

Danny to Portland ticks all the right boxes. He was one of the better GMs in the league before he stepped down from the Celtics. Portland would be silly to not even attempt to pull him out of retirement. Danny would be perfect to rebuild that team. I’m a huge Danny Ainge fan but I think his time in Boston really had to end. He clearly looked tired and burned out. But maybe the  almost 2 years off may have rejuvenated him.

If it’s Dame for JB then it wouldn’t be a bad deal for Portland. The question is, do we want that deal? Dame has been having abdominal problems this year plus he isn’t really that young anymore.

Almost two years??…..TP for the sarcasm.
