Brad may not be done. Garrison Matthews and Ryan Arcidiacono have a good chance to make the team per Keith Smith. What do you guys think?

Honestly don't know either of these guys, but camp invites rarely make the team.  Javonte Green might be a recent exception?

Matthews did start 20 games last year for the wizards. He can get a two-way if they offer it to him. shooting  does help!

We have a fairly competitive situation for camp invites like these. There are two avenues to "make" the roster even without any trades. We have the 2nd open 2-way spot available. Jabari's roster spot is also up for open competition (with the acquisition of Juancho and Jabari's non-guaranteed $) if one of these guys can beat him out.

So, basically, even without another deal, 2 out of Jabari, Arcidiacono, and Matthews can make the final 17.

Technically, we could let Parker go or cut someone but don't we have enough guards already on the regular roster?  We already have 3 PGs (Smart, Schroder, Pritchard) plus there was talk of trying to convert Langford to PG and we have Brown, Richardson, Langford, Smart, Nesmith that can all play SG.  None of these guys are getting cut.  Traded maybe but I don't see it.

There is one remaining 2-way slot but it would take a number of injuries to other guards before either of these two would see time on the court.  Good to have some competition in camp but I don't see any impact in any way from either of these two guys.  I would rather have Parker than either of these two.

All I know is that Both of those guys can shoot well enough, have decent size for their position and have shown that they can play in the NBA. That’s more than can be said for the end of bench players last year. They were just unplayable.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I like Mathews. Not keen on Ryan. Always surprised by how much PT he got for Bulls, albeit a lousy team.

Wonder if there is a trade coming to get rid of some of the dead weight (Langford/G Wiliams/etc)

I don’t think Arcidiacono has a realistic shot at making the team out of camp, and he’s not available for a 2-way.  He’s getting a look now, can go to Maine if he wants, and can show himself to be an option later in the year if the Celtics make a trade that opens up a need at PG.  The team has enough secondary ball handlers to not need to carry 4 PG.

Keith Smith saying he has a good shot, or whatever his language is, is just being nice so that agents might throw him a bone sometimes.  Woj does this to perfection — notice how often he compliments a player when announcing a signing, and often mentions the agent too.  Say nice things, no one remembers if you’re wrong.  Say mean things, even if they’re realistic, and people won’t forget, correct or not.

This is fair but Matthews is probably competing with Theo Pinson for a 2-way slot.  I doubt he takes the place of someone like Langford (barring a trade of course).  Matthews on paper appears to be more established but he will be 25 in Oct vs Langford will be 22 in Oct.  Either one would be essentially the 4th string SG behind Brown, Richardson, and Smart (Combo).

Pinson isn’t eligible for a 2-way.  Mathews and Juwan Morgan are the likely options for a 2-way.

OK, thanks.  Either would be a great 2-way sign.  Mathews is probably good enough to make some team somewhere but if we can get him on a 2-way, that would seem to be a pretty good deal for the team.  Cleveland for example still has some potential roster spots and is light on wing depth.

Matthews isn't the next Duncan Robinson but I like that we’re looking at this kind of player. I’d love to see the Jays even for short minutes playing with 2 snipers on the court even if they are poor defenders. Down the road a little maybe it’s a sniper who can hold his own at the other end a d really space it out for Jaylen and Tatum.

Kinda surprised that nobody wanted Mathews.  From what I saw of him, he looks better than many end-of-bench guys in this league and even some rotation players.

He can play.
