Thought Michigan would run away with this after going up 14-0 quick but Iowa’s defense has stepped up nicely.

Still, Michigan will win this. I do wonder if a strong 2nd half and dominant win could give them the case to be #1.

While it’s unlikely, Georgia got blown out today and Cincy had a nice win and won a championship so maybe CIN ends up #3 and Georgia #4. That would still keep Alabama from facing Georgia immediately

I'd be fine with Michigan being #1.  Before last season Bama had lost the 3 times they were #1 seed in the playoffs and won the National Championship the two times they weren't.  Last year's team was just so great they could overcome that #1 seed jinx.

My guess:

Cotton Bowl: 1) Alabama v. 4) Cincinnati

Orange Bowl: 2) Michigan v. 3) Georgia

I agree.  I think Bama as #1 seed gets the choice of where to play and I don't think Saban would want the Miami distractions.

I think Michigan gets #1.  They were #2 heading into the week, and I think winning 42-3 will be enough to hold off Alabama, despite Bama having beaten Georgia today.

Michigan probably should be 1 but I just think the committee won’t set a Bama/Georgia rematch in a semi and I don’t think a previously undefeated Georgia drops past 3.

On another note, this Georgia-Alabama contest is truly becoming a one-sided thing. Doesn't matter how good Georgia looks or is during a season, it's almost a tradition they lose to Alabama at some point lol

In fact, they haven't beaten Alabama since 2007 (!). Alabama's taken the last 7 games in a row between the 2. Georgia could have a shot at redemption a month from now but that's if they beat Michigan which will be a very tough task.

No way, I'm stunned.

Jokes aside, I'm ecstatic for that Michigan-Georgia game, should be good. Alabama will win but I hope Cincy can put up a good fight and prove they deserve not just respect for making the CFP but showing they belong with this sort of group going forward. Already been a stellar season for them going undefeated with wins over Houston, SMU, Notre Dame in the mix too.

I’m rooting for Alabama vs. Michigan.

Well, I’m really rooting for Cincy to shock the world, but I don’t think it can happen.

I think Michigan has a real chance to win it all actually. They've got a legit defense, and have big-play ability. As long as they don't make stupid turnovers, they're perfectly fine. If they play like they have the last few games they can definitely win it all at the end.

A bit surprised they kept Ohio State ahead of Baylor. I know it really doesn't matter past 4 for teams that are in the New Years 6 bowls, but I figured the championship for Baylor would have elevated them to at least 6 if not 5.  Makes me wonder what would have happened had Cincinnati or Alabama lost opening the door for that 4th spot
