Doesn’t that have to be negotiated in the CBA?
Yep.  Which is why it took some time for the Refs to be included as they also had to have that negotiated.

Is this going to end up screwing us on Schroder? I believe he was not a fan of the vaccine.

I’m fairly sure if the league negotiates a deal with the players that everyone has to be vaccinated or else that Schröder will find his love of $5.9 million exceeds his hatred of vaccines.
True, but they aren't going to negotiate it.  They will just negotiate different rules for those that are vaccinated vs. unvaccinated.

yep and visiting team unvaccinated players in Toronto can only leave their hotel for practice and games (and obviously to leave).  Can't even get a coffee on the street

Currently, for US citizens to go to Canada you must be vacinated and have a negative Covid test. Different rules for NBA players and us plebs?

Just saw this headline that unvaccinated players will not be allowed in some arenas .
Wondering how this will effect the season in general and the C’s specifically .

I think those cities should have shown some balls and applied it to visiting teams, as well.

Regardless, I think this could have a really interest effect upon trades / in-season free agents.  Any player NYK, BRK or GSW acquires would have to sit out a certain number of home games while they presumably get vaccinated.  If somebody opts for Johnson and Johnson, are they considered fully immune after 14 days?  If so, I guess that's not terrible, but it will still be a hassle.  If you're a player hoping to sign a 10-day contract, it might make sense to go get that vaccine now.

EDIT:  Or not.  It looks like there's only a requirement to have received one dose of the vaccine, not to be fully vaccinated.

Should be allowed in if they have had covid?   There are some reports that natural immunity provides more protection than the vaccines, not sure if it is completely true.  But food for thought.

Now, I am no doctor, please do what your doctor tells.   I 've had it and got the vaccine as this is what my doctor recommended.   But should there be a mechanism for those that have had it?

Yep, in my state we used to have a philosophical exemption in addition to medical/religious, but they got rid of it. Never made sense to me to allow people an exemption because they think as a group based on non-evidenced based beliefs, but not allow an exemption for those who want to think individually based on their own assessed risk and evaluation of evidence.

It really illustrates that the only thing between you and removal of your rights by an authority is your ability to fight back. For anyone thinking that your rights stem from society, this is evidence that they do not. Rather your ability or potential to fight society for what you want is what creates your "rights".

There always should have been a recognition for those who have had COVID. It's very likely the vaccine has no practical value for them. But institutions tend toward treating people as a monoculture crop. Succeed together or fail together. It's too difficult to be responsible for the consequences of other people's independent actions, so they simply limit those independent actions. The unthinkable alternative is that our institutions shouldn't try to be responsible for everything.

Per Shams:

If all players on a team are fully vaccinated, NBA and NBPA anticipate there would be no restrictions on those players‘ away-from-work activities (such as accessing indoor bars, clubs, lounges), sources said.

https://twitter.com/ShamsCharania/status/1433448164862930949

Looks like the NBA is going to rely on peer pressure to get up to 100% vaccination for players, which is an interesting idea.

In other words, if players want to go to strip clubs, they'll need to force their teammates to get vaccinated.

Yep.  And I suspect it’ll work for some teams.  You know Lou Williams so going to make certain the Hawks are all vaccinated.  He needs his “wings.”
