This pick was a tough one for me! Hoping the other guy I was weighing up lasts to my next choice...

With the 5th pick, the Minnesota Timberwolves select...

Terry Rozier!

I was considering Rozier as a possible starter next to Luka. Rozier's much improved 3 point shooting would've meshed well with Luka's playmaking.

I was thinking I could get Rozier in the 6th or 7th round and spend the earlier pick on a top bench player.

I was thinking Nick would take Marcus Morris. I was going to take him if he didn't. Morris had a great season this year.

What drew me to him was his versatility. He can play off-ball and on-ball, can play alongside Trae, Beal and Murray all in different lineups, and as you mention has become a really good shooter from the perimeter. His 2PT % jumped from 44% to 51% this latest season, which I think is as impressive as his shooting progress.

I'm looking forward to the Bogdan / Beal / Rozier / Young / Murray lineup.  Haha.  Unguardable.

There was some stat like catch and shoot 3s that was very impressive. That Rozier has gotten really good at running off screens and hitting catch and shoot 3s off the move (off ball movement).

Cool. I am going to take a guy I have come close to drafting in the 4th round, 5th round, 6th round, 7th round and now finally in the 8th round I'm going to take my guy.

Knicks pick Jonathan Isaac.

He was the top remaining scorer, right?  I'm not sure how he'd look on an IRL playoff team, but here he can just play his game off of the bench.

Argh!!! I have been so close to picking him each round since I picked Harrison Barnes. Man...

He's amazing on defence. Truly transforms teams on that end of the floor. His rehab isn't going too quickly, which is what stopped me from picking him earlier, but he's so dang gifted.

Knicks pick Jonathan Isaac.

I was just researching him.  What's your thought on his injury?  He's still in a brace 13 months after surgery, and isn't sure he'll be ready for opening night.  A 15 month recovery from an ACL is almost unheard of these days.  Did something go wrong?

But, the defensive potential particularly is sky high.  I wouldn't have liked him at all in the 4th, but in the 8th it's solid.

I like Jonathan Isaac for his defensive versatility. I can use him as a small ball center or as a big forward.

I like a defensive combo of Isaac + Gobert for tough defense.

Or as a stretch five when I want a 5-out offense to give Luka more space to work with.

Lots of fun names this round!

I'm going to take Derrick White to add some defensive ability at the guard and on-ball / off-ball flexibility.

HT for gouki for giving me more confidence in the choice.

Heck yeah. One of my favourite defensive guards in the competition.

White is a RAPTOR darling, which I had a hunch on but didn't fully appreciate just how good he is. +1.4 offensive, +3.2 defensive last year (1.2, 2.2 the year before). Can play and defend multiple positions, can shoot well enough. Fun to research players like that and fall in love with their game.
