Nesmith and Pritchard are both suffering through a Sophomore slump. It happens. It happened to Grant last year, but it’s looking like he’s finally broken out of that funk.
I think the mask affected Pritchard and now he’s not getting minutes because the vets ahead of him at simply better. I think he’ll figure it out though. He had a slump last year after a fast start, but was looking good at the end of the year and during summer league. Last year he got minutes out of necessity. This year he has to fight for them. That’s why the vets were brought in to begin with.
Same goes for Nesmith. He looked good in summer league, but now he’s pressing because he wants playing time but isn’t getting it. They don’t get much practice time once the season starts. He probably needs some G-League games where he can work on his game in live action and hopefully things slow down for him. I don’t see him as a James Young, because he cares and gives effort.
Romeo- I still have hope that he can get his slasher/drive-to-the-rim game untracked. He was known for that, not defense or 3-point shooting. He worked really hard to become a lock down defender and passable shooter, probably to the detriment of his driving offense. He hasn’t learned how to score inside around longer, quicker opponents yet. I think he will, just like Brown did. Hopefully this season, but maybe that’s something that he needs another season working on and he can take over Richardson’s role full time.
