Every metric including the scoreboard has favored Tatum every single season they've been in the league.  the only way that doesn't continue for the rest of their careers is a major injury to Tatum
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Last season

Tatum played on avg 2 more mins a game

Tatum FTs and Rebounds were much better than Brown

But Brown had a better FG percentage, 3 pt shooting percentage

You are correct, Brown is a slightly better shooter than Tatum, but so is Kyle Korver.  I stand firmly behind what I said.  Tatum is a significantly better player than Brown and more impactful to the team actually winning or losing games.  Just as he has been every single year he has been in the league.  That isn't going to magically change next year or any time in the future without Tatum getting hurt.

I know their box score stats are pretty comparable, and it's easy to look at them side by side and say they're within throwing distance of each other, but Tatum's net rating was +2 and Jaylen's net rating was -1

It's possible this is a function of who they were paired with, but Tatum on the floor meant the Celtics were separating from their opponents in a positive way, and Brown on the floor meant the Celtics were losing ground.

I don't look at this metric all on its own, but I think the fact that Tatum has led the team in net rating for a few seasons now IIRC is a big indication of his impact on the floor and can't just be ignored.

Brown is the guy who gets things started, or starts that third quarter run that gets you way up or back in the game. His game and most of his points come in transition. Tatum is your fourth quarter sharpshooter. Two very different players even though their stats don't show it.

Not this year, not next year, not ever. Imo, Tatum is hands down the better player.

Yeah, I was gonna say that Brown gets things going until Tatum starts getting hot. We're gonna be a lot better this season.
Larry Bird was Greater than you think.

Probably never. Tatum is 18 months younger, is the better scorer, rebounder, passer and team defender, and is less prone to injury.

He needs to bring his defense back up and keep the same efficiency as well as improve his ft rate and ft fg%. He does that and he is near All NBA. I don't care if he is better than Tatum. I just want him to be better.

Tatum has his fair share of posters. Even one when he was wearing #11 before Kyrie got traded here (first highlight)

It's a worthless stat.  First, it's an estimate.  Second, Tatum has perhaps led Brown, but he hasn't led the team.

Williams:  +35
Theis:  +11
Kornet:  +7
Thompson:  +4
Jabari:  +4
Fournier:  +3
Pritchard: +2
Tatum: +2
Smart: +1
Kemba: 0
Nesmith: -1
Brown: -2
G. Williams: -9
Langford: -21

Realistically, I don't think that distribution tells us a thing about the players.

Simple man’s take:  Sometimes Tatum’s offense is jaw-dropping. That head-shaking, unreal level we saw often from Bird and sometimes from Pierce.  Within Brown’s consistent all-star game he has his moments too, but Tatum’s moments are other-worldly. Tatum is the superstar.

Luke Kornet is the best!

I think Raptor is the most useful. It has them ranked:
1. Tatum
2. Brown
3. Williams
4. Smart
5. Fournier

That is probably how I would have ranked them too, in terms of when they were actually on the court.

There was a legit debate for nearly the first half of last season as to whether Brown was better. Tatum turned it up a notch and Brown regressed, although I think his sore knee really hampered him. Brown is clearly the better athlete.
