Hopefully we still have some minor tinkering to do, but how would you rate Brad so far?  Evaluate him in the following categories:

1.  Coaching Search

2.  The Draft

3.  Trades And Free Agency

4.  Overall:  2021 Season And Beyond

1. Coaching Search: B+
Ime's talking the talk. Personally felt our biggest lacks were ball movement and toughness, and it sounds like Ime's gonna bring both. I like his history, his demeanour and his alleged rapport with our team.

2. The Draft: -
I know nothing of this topic so ima pass

3. Trades And Free Agency: A
Honestly way more spectacular than I thought it was going to be. Offloading Kemba made heaps of sense. Getting Al back made me do a double take. Getting Schröder at that price blew me away. Don't think he could've done too much better. I like letting Fournier leave too.

4. Overall:  2021 Season And Beyond: B
Think that was the best we could do. I think we're contenders for the top. We're on the outside looking in though. We're by no means a lock. And a B means they'd have to over-achieve to be champs (which would be A+, obviously)

Looking forward to see everyone's grades cuz they kinda influence my opinion a lot :) You guys know way more about basketball than I do hahaha

Coaching search - A.  Udoka seems to check all the boxes of what the Celtics were looking for, without the baggage of a Chauncey Billups.

Draft — B.  One pick, got a draft and stash.  He seems like the high-ceiling flyer that’s good for a mid-2nd rounder, that also won’t be surprising if he never makes it.

Trades and Free Agency — B.  Getting out of Kemba’s deal seemed to be necessary, and I think Horford will bring back some of what’s needed to the team.  I hated our defense last year, and think most of our acquisitions will help on that end.  I do wish we’d acquired someone who is a better PF than Grant or Jabari, since right now it seems one of those two will play 15-20 minutes a night, and that’s going to be a weakness.  Offseason isn’t quite done yet, so maybe we’ll still find someone.  I would upgrade to B+/A- if we find that person.

I like the Smart extension, and we got two sizable trade exceptions (Thompson and Fournier) for a net of 0 second-rounders, which allows us to have some choices at the deadline or next summer.  Not sure that we’ll ever get our third star — best bet is probably for Rob Williams to take a leap and stay healthy.

Overall - B/B+.  Nothing spectacular, but a solid start.

1. Coaching search: B+
Udoka seems to be a nice change of pace from Brad. Has good assistant experience at a raft of different successful teams, and what he's publicly been saying so far has been positive. Seems to have a good relationship with Tatum already too. We didn't hire Jason Kidd or Chauncey Billups, so I'm thrilled in that regard.

Draft: C+
I get the desire to dump our pick, but I was fairly high on Jalen Johnson, and would have liked him on our team. Still, like the Bugarinn pick as a swing for the fences type pick. He's already pretty comparable to Langford :P

Trades and Free Agency: B
Nothing spectacular, nothing disastrous. Horford should be able to provide some more offensive opportunities for the Jays with his passing and shooting. Our defence should be much better with Richardson and Horford instead of Kemba and TT. Schroder was an absolute moneyball signing. Want us to upgrade our back-up PF spot - if we got Thad Young or Larry Nance I'd bump this to an A. Smart's extension was meh, but I think he'll be better with contract security. Like the continual addition of TPE's.

2021 and beyond: B
We've got a great young wing pairing. We've got young guys with potential like Timelord, Nesmith and PP. We've got veterans like Horford, Smart, Schroder and Richardson. We might not have the top-end talent of some other teams, but if a couple of things go our way we could be on the right path. Stevens was given a pretty tricky position to start, and has changed the identity of the team considerably.

1.  Coaching- C+

2.  The Draft- D

3.  Trades And Free Agency- D

4.  Overall:  2021 Season And Beyond- F
I find this funny. No reasoning, just panning.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

I’d like to hear it, not just from you but from everybody.  If nothing else, it gives us something to look back on in a year or two.

A-/TBD on the coaching search.  I like what I've seen of Udoka so far.

B/TBD/whatever on the draft.  Begarin seems like a reasonable gamble at a pick that typically isn't worth much anyway, and in the short term we don't have to spend a roster spot on him.

B on free agency.

C on future outlook.  This isn't necessarily Brad's fault, but there aren't a lot of obvious avenues for improvement left, short of gutting the franchise for a third star-level player or just hoping guys like R Williams or Pritchard or Nesmith reach their ceiling.  But we do have Tatum and Brown, and I'm happy for that.

Not like people give me or anyone else any credit for stuff debated on when proven right about. Everyone always has an excuse of why they "could" have been right. But I'll give you reasoning.

1. Good hiring if you want a new face but the guy has no head coaching experience and is taking on a group of guys who have fallen apart multiple years. A guy with experience would have made more sense  IMO.

2. The draft was ruined by the desire to dump Walker and the need to draft a stash guy. BS should have moved Edwards or GW and made use of his picks in a deep draft class. Giving up 16 this draft was like trading a 10th pick in most drafts.

3. Kemba deal was horrible. Thompson deal as well. You became a worse talented team and you lost all flexibility that the team supposedly wanted when they extended Smart. Schroder was nice but he is a MLE player that we got for the Tax MLE. Let's not over celebrate like we did when team got Teague

4. Team still has no clear direction. They look like they want vets and flexibility but then they won't move on from young guys who aren't improving. Then they also extend Smart losing flexibility. Are they in on this year or not? What's the point of having Richardson and Schroeder if they aren't in the long term plan? Shouldn't they develop the youth? What's the goals for the team, Tatum and Brown talked about a transition year and development and C's then add guys that hinder that, unless it's only about the Js development. If it is about the Js didn't Fournier fit better with the Js than Smart? Why let Fournier walk but extend Smart?

That's why it's an F. Too many things clash. When you want to play the middle you end up a 4-8 seed. You have either go for it or commit to developing guys another year and building resources.

Coaching: B (Need to see how Udoka does in NBA level as a head coach, but glad a coaching change finally.)

Draft: D (poor selections but what can we do)

Free agency: C (wished we could have signed a lot of veteran role players to make some noise this year, wish we didn't have to offer the extension for Smart etc)

Future: D (I don't see any banners coming any time soon, and we're wasting the J's times here with annual losing. GM Brad Stevens is nothing to wow about. Owner Wyc is cheap.)

1.  Coaching Search- Incomplete.  We really have no idea. On the surface Udoka looks like a good hire. Let's see what happens with the rotation, in game adjustments etc. How will players develop under him? There are so many uknowns. On the plus side (for me) is he seems to have the respect of the top players. On the minus side, he wants Smart here long term and possibly as his starting PG. If I had to project I'd say he's a B hire.

2.  The Draft- C+  Looks like he drafted a project which is what you'd expect picking in that spot. Maybe it works out, maybe it doesn't.

3.  Trades And Free Agency- B. I'm on board with everything to date except the Smart extension. Smart definitely got the better of that deal.

4.  Overall:  2021 Season And Beyond- A-  Time will tell of course but Brad seems pretty savvy. I think he'll do a good job, but I'm wondering what happens if he decides he wants to coach again.
