I saw Buddy Hield play his senior year. He was amazing. At 20 and 21 years old. Nesmith was actually better than Buddy at the same age.

Nesmith was actually as good as Buddy at 20 years old as Buddy was at 23 years old. Buddy his senior year avg 25 ppg and shot a ridiculous . 457% from three.

Nesmith avg 22 ppg on .520% from three! Insane. To my eyes Nesmith is also a little taller, longer, hustles harder and is a better defensive player.

Buddy panned out pretty good,  but at 28 years old now, I'll take Nesmith !!!

I think Nesmith is a better defender. He's impactful on both ends of the floor.

Assuming you are correct, when will Nesmith have the impact 28 yo Hield has?  If he really does have what it takes to get there offensively I hope it happens very soon.  Adding a Hield quality player to the current team would be great

Hield was a 24 year-old rookie, which makes it hard to compare them at this stage. I think Nesmith is the better athlete and tries harder on defence, but Hield's simple volume of threes is insane. Over 800 made threes over the last three seasons
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)

PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

If he plays heavy minutes this year. He will be ready to produce next year.

+1

His motor is way beyond what I thought he might have.

I think Nesmith or Pritchard need to be in the Starting line up to stretch the floor for Tatum and Brown!

Amazing to think that Hield is 28. Three years younger than Kemba who's practically a grandfather!
Any odd typos are because I suck at typing on an iPhone :D

Nesmith is a better defender than Hield, is Buddy even a good defender at all?  I didnt think he was.

Either way I look at Nesmith's potential as a better Danny Green (eventually) since his driving ability seems better.

Reminds me more of early Klay Thompson. Clearly a talented shooter,  needs to polish the rest of his game. Raw, loads of potential. Plays a little bigger than he is. Better intangibles than Hield. Less swagger, hopefully that improves.

Entered the league in a bizarre situation and had the yips early unlike Thompson but I expect a lot more production and consistency this year.

Nesmith’s former coach went with Khris Middleton. I’ll take that.

Ha Ha! I was going to throw out a comp that Jerry Stackhouse mentioned as well and that would be Allan Houston. Either one is fine by me. Let's just stick to what his former coach saw in Nesmith. He's already better at getting to the hoop, even though I never take summer league too seriously, and has a better handle than last year. Oh, and we see that he can get hot from 3 so I guess his shot from deep is coming back to him. 40% from deep will get him plenty of minutes this year. He already plays better D than Hield. As long as there is improvement from last year, and you already seen there is, Aaron will play lots of minutes or/and get traded in a package for a better player.

Nesmith is a tantalizing player. I’m not good at comparisons so I won’t even try but the future looks so much brighter when you imagine it including this guy boming away with confidence.

The goal is for Nesmith in 2021-22 to become Al Jefferson in 2006-07. That is, a late lottery pick who has a breakout year and, along with other intriguing pieces (Pritchard? R Williams?) plus draft picks, is enough to trade for a star.

or better yet, become that star who can be retained under cost-controlled contracts for several years to come.   it's a longshot, still needs to be a consistent role player first, but that would be serious good fortune for the C's
