We all know what Smart means to winning. Cs lowballed him. You have to bet on yourself. Shroeder is an isolated case. How many players are in his predicament.

Oladipo, for one...and he blew it even more than Schroder. Yet, nobody is talking about it. Smart should take this deal - it's a decent pay bump and the Cs did right by him last negotiation.

His last contract paid 12 a year….scrubs like Rozier and Biyambo were pulling down 18-20.

Those contracts are over pays.

Those contracts establish the market price.

I don't think overpays should be what everyone pays.

No such thing as an overpay….the market is the market. If it is offered and you cannot beat it, it becomes the market for that player.

If you underperform your contract that's an overpay.  Too many overpays keep you at a mediocre level. I will admit that there are different reasons to overpay. Some are good reasons some are not.

What is it if you overperform your contract?

What is it if you overperform your contract?

Then it's a win-win. You get more money on the next contract and the team gets a bargin.

Rozier on an inflated sign and trade to make the cap work doesn’t set the market any more than Schroeder at $6m.

Wrong!! Shroeder sets the market for dummies.

Wrong thread
Quoting Nick from the now locked Ime thread:

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Wrong, Biyombo and Rozier set the market for dummies who signed them. Also, are you talking about the 2018 market? It’s 2021, FYI.

I have no argument with you. I hope you see the inconsistencies in your position though.

Agreed, you are using examples of market setting contracts that bad teams offer and others are citing contracts that good teams offer. Either/both of us are accurate here.

Me, I’m rooting for the Celtics to be good, not hamstrung.
