It's possible, but his contract situation in Israel probably requires him to be on a full NBA contract, not a two-way, for him to reasonably afford his buy-out and I'm not sure that would work for the C's. There are luxury tax implications as well, since Boston's right around that tax line currently, but unless someone wants Carsen or Bruno for free I'm not convinced it's worth burning a second-round pick to salary-dump Dunn to bring Yam over a year early to fill the same role.

Probably makes more sense for Yam to come over next year, even though he's likely good enough to warrant at least a two-way right now.

EDIT: I will say that dumping Dunn and replacing him with Yam on a rookie deal probably lets Boston duck the tax if they don't sign Schroeder, but I'd be a little disappointed burning assets just to pad Wyc's bottom line.

If we are clearing cap space next season to sign Beal for example, it's in our best interest if Yam isn't in our roster yet.

Yes. Also, doesn’t it seem likely he’ll develop more if he gets a year to run a team in European ball? He’ll be pretty far down the depth chart if he comes to the Cs.

The C's PG rotation is so messed up that Yam might be able to play his way regular minutes.

(1) Smart = defensive minded combo guard who lacks quickness and playmaking & driving
(2) Pritchard = shooter, setup guard, lacks playmaking and driving
(3) Dunn = defensive minded offensively challenged PG

Of these 3 players and Yam as the 4th, Yam may already be the best floor general & playmaker of the 4. Best at pushing the tempo and creating in transition.

Yeah, Yam is coming in as 4th string PG but given the flaws of the other 3 PGs it is possible he could play his way into the rotation quickly.

Yam certainly looks promising, but he needs to spend a year putting some weight on.

I'd want him to stay overseas as well. Get playing time and learn to lead more. Then come back ready to push for pg 2 minutes.

Hope he gets to stay for camp to work with the team more.

This year? That's a pipedream Who. Yam is still ridiculously raw.

He has to tighten up that dribble. He has to add a lot of strength. His shooting form is ugly, especially from deep. He could have similar problems shooting the three as Lonzo Ball did his first few years because his release is low and slow. And he has to learn the system, as he was just a complete scatterbug yesterday on both ends, often getting completely lost, especially defensively.

There is a below zero chance Yam would be able to dislodge Smart or Pritchard from any of their minutes. He is just way too raw.

Below zero is a little extreme.  More like, zero =P

Schroder signed. Pretty much means Yam will be in Europe next season.

It's where he belongs. Needs to put on 10lbs and tighten his game up. He can still easily make it - can see him taking the Patrick Beverley route, except for us (and without being a dirty player)
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Though unlikely because of the need for his contract to be bought out, he still technically could get second two way slot this year right?

I just don't see him beating out any of our guards with Schroder signing.  If one is honest, Edwards and Pritchard have played better than he in Summer league.

Yes, although I’m pretty sure that would be a pay cut for him, so it’s a bit unlikely he’d go for that unless he really wants out of his Israeli team at any cost.
