He signed for 3 years 19 million with the Suns. Which is chump change in the NBA.  How much could we have offered him.

Nothing we could do? Could we have beat that contract at all? Tps for good answers

As I said in another thread, he was probably worth more on the open market but took that money to to return to a contender. I'm not sure any player is taking a discount to be a part of a play-in team.

We don't have anything to offer FA's right now: we don't have more money, we don't have nightlife, we can't even realistically offer them a winning situation.

We could offer the Tax Payer MLE at $5.9M.  3 years, $19M total is just above this amount on an average basis.  I am not sure exactly how it works but we could not have "beat" this offer in a straight signing but we could about match it, unless we did a sign and trade.  In theory, we could have offered $30M if PHO would take back Horford in a sign and trade.  If we did match with MLE or sign and trade, we would be hard capped.  It does not appear that he considered anywhere but PHO and why would he.

The Celtics just weren't in the running but neither were Knicks, Nets, Lakers, etc.

Cs literally can’t/won’t offer anything beyond a one year deal to an FAs. As a result, unlikely anyone of importance will come to play here next year.
