If the Raptors are trying to unload Siakam we can come in with picks and smart and Fournier and get our third star. Siakam is a better player to play the #3 option here than to be the man in Toronto. I have read that Siakum is unhappy in Toronto. We then bring in Satoranski with the Thompson trade exception so the Bulls can bring in Ball.

Our starting line up is:

Satoranski
Brown
Tatum
Siakum
Horford

I think you'd want a better shooter to complement the starting line-up than Satoransky. But certainly interested in Siakam. Maybe a 'cheap' (in terms of assets) forgotten star.

Statoransky is a 35% 3 point shooter. 57% eFG%.

Would love us to add Satoransky! Unfortunately, we cannot fit his salary under the Thompson TPE.

The TPE is $9,358,000. Satoransky's salary is $10,000,000.

Fwiw, we could have absorbed his salary under the Hayward TPE prior to the JRich trade.

We could have absorbed his salaty under the Hayward TPE prior to the JRich trade.

Well, that's a bummer. But the Bulls may cut Satorantski to fit in Lonzo Ball. Only half of Satoranski's salary is guaranteed this year. We save 7 million in the Siakum trade and can pay Satorantski with our exception.

How do we save money in the Siakam trade? Only Smart is under contract right now. Fournier is a free agent. If we use the TPE to go after a free agent, we'll become hard capped at the apron. Really don't think we can afford Siakam if we become hard capped.

Anyway, I'd love the proposed trade on our part. Don't like it for the Raps. I believe they can get better value for Siakam.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
I would absolutely love to add Siakam and prefer him quite a bit over Beal. I won't go as far to say that I am 'all-in', but I'd have no problem offloading good players/multiple 1sts for him.

I see no reason why Toronto would be interested in this.

This is highway robbery.

Would have to throw a couple of first round picks. Which still may be acceptable. Siakam a good fit here.

Siakam is a good target. Size, defense, and situational offense.

We can only use Fournier in a trade for Siakam if he agrees.  The only way I see him agreeing to a trade to Toronto is if they over-pay and I don't see why they would do that while giving up Siakam.  I would love to get Siakam but I don't see it.  You would have to put Brown on the table, then Toronto may listen.

So trade Brown for Siakam and sign Fournier ourselves and you have:

Smart
Fournier
Tatum
Siakam
Horford

Richardson, Williams, Parker, Nesmith, Langford, etc.

Not horrible but I doubt anyone wants to give up Brown.

I could see Toronto being interested in moving Siakam and going forward with Anunoby and Barnes, but there would be better packages out there
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)
