NBA 75 Greatest Players

75 players for 75 years.

Let's assume (I don't know if this is how it'll be but just for fun, let's assume) that everyone in the NBA's 50 Greatest makes it on the 75 list. Who are the 25 to get added?

I've got 24 names (in no particular order) to add and some more names to consider at the bottom.

Some names to consider: Carmelo, Reggie Miller, Vince Carter, Joe Johnson, Dame Lillard, Chris Webber, Blake Griffin, Paul George, Klay Thompson... Or some all-time defenders like Mutombo? Ben Wallace? Draymond?

Great list. It’ll be interesting to see how many in the “top 50” are pushed down the list by greats of the last 25 years. 

If my memory is correct Shaq was #50 on the list - making the list as a nod to his likely future greatness despite his youth. I wonder if there’ll be a similar youth representative — Luca #75?

Greatest rebounder in NBA history and a top 3 big man defender.

Dwight Howard should not be on that list. He is the Mark McGuire of the NBA. He is nothing without the steroids.

I would also take Reggie Miller over Westbrook any day of the week. Reggie never had nearly the same talent around him but still made many strong playoff runs.

Marc Gasol also deserves consideration. He was arguably the best defensive big man in the league for a few years as KG and Duncan declined. He stuck it out on one of the most inept organizations in the NBA and despite making some decent playoff runs his legacy has suffered as a result. Put an elite scorer next to him in his prime and we're talking about him totally differently.

Reggie Miller is easily on that list. Vince Carter too. Dwight Howard should not even be in consideration.

Dwight kind of has to be here. I think you're forgetting how dominant he was. 3-time DPOY, 8 All NBA Teams including 5 first teams. He led the league in rebounding 5 times, blocks twice. He was the best player on a Finals team and probably should've won MVP in '11.

He fell off fast because of how the league changed and his reputation is bad because apparently his awful to be around but there was an 8 year stretch that absolutely has to be respected. His peak was much higher than Reggie Miller's, at any rate.

Dwight Howard is easily there over Vince Carter. More dominant peak, 6 more All-NBAs, 3 DPOYs where Carter never appeared on a defensive team, and a ring. Not even any comparison.

If The Glove is in consideration then Dwight should be too, in my opinion. Really similar in terms of accolades and impact. Dwight more successful in his ring-chasing

I’m glad we at least agree that Vince shouldn’t be anywhere near this list

I see your point with Payton, though I still hold him in a higher regard than Dwight.  Payton had a much more polished offensive game while still being a dominant defensive player.  Yes Dwight led his team to the finals but let’s be honest, they should just remove Orlando’s name from the history books there and replace it with ‘KGs knee’

Perhaps my opinion of Dwight is jaded by watching Perk shut him down in the playoffs.  Is there anyone in this list that we watched get neutralized by a ‘good’ but not great defensive role player like Kendrick Perkins?  How many times did Orlando badly need a bucket against us in the playoffs and we watch Dwight try and run across the lane and throw up that weak hook shot after failing to move Perk at all in the post.
