Marcus Smart + Tristan Thompson

For

Terry Rozier

Terry and Marcus are both on expiring deals. Tristan too.

Terry would be an immediate upgrade at the point position. A great ball handler who can also add streaky scoring.

Charlotte doesn’t seem like a team that would invest in someone of Terry’s value beyond this contract. Nice player but not a building block.

I think Terry has higher trade value than that right now. I'd do that deal.  Something similar was proposed earlier, and shot down by many here. A lot of TR hate on this board I'm afraid. I think he'd be a great addition back.  Not sure how JT and JB would react, though.

so we give up 2 players like that for one that we were willing to let go because he didn't like playing second fiddle to the other players on the team?  no thanks.   people tend to forget how frustrating Rozier was when he played here.  Not ready to sign on for more of that on a more expensive contract.

not opposed to moving Smart and TT but I want someone better than Rozier coming back

not a fan of a Smart for Rozier based trade

However this did get me thinking about the possibility of the Cs pressuring a S&T or FA signing of Davonte Graham. If the Cs are not comfortable with the Smart/Pritchard PG rotation Graham could be a viable option.

I am personally fine with Smart and Pritchard

Hard Pass. Smart is a capable passer and I think now that he is taking over the PG duties full time he will be shooting less. Rozier is a chucker, he’s going to want to get his. Not a great passer, undersized 2 guard... Sound familiar?

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Terry Rozier is so much better than Graham, and plays so much bigger, especially defensively.  I don't understand your thinking here at all. It's like deciding to become a small team again, especially after we just unburdened Kemba.

Is it possible that Brad (the Coach) didn’t recognize Rozier’s value and that maybe Brad (the GM) could reflect differently? Rozier has thrived since leaving Boston with more minutes.

Pass. Rather see Smart and TT. Plus they are on end of deals.

Rozier has become a very efficient player offensively.

It would be a huge upgrade in our outside shooting from 3 point range.

He would be awesome guarding quick guards like Sexton and Fox defensively, guys that Smart really struggles with defending.

He has improved as a playmaker, averaging 4 assists per game now, and has a 2/1 assist/turnover ratio, which is quite good. He would click right away with his former teammates Al Horford, and the two Jays.

To me this is such a no brainer trade, I just doubt that Michael Jordan would agree to it.

I'm no saying I would want the Cs to sign Graham however depending how this off-season goes I could see him signed as a short term spot gap. An example would be if the Cs trade Smart for Kyle Anderson and are not comfortable starting Pritchard they could sign Graham to a 1 year deal.

PG: Rozier/Pritchard
SG: Brown/Fournier/Nesmith
SF: Tatum/Langford
PF: Horford/Williams
C: Williams III/Brown/Fall

Deep lineup and so many things you could do with small ball lineups. We’d cause other teams fits with the ability to score 20 at each position.

sure it's possible but I haven't heard of Brad suffering a brain injury lately.

Yes, but Horford plays center not PF, IMO:

PG: Rozier/Pritchard
SG: Brown/Nesmith/Langford
SF: Fournier/Langford/Nesmith
PF: Tatum/Parker
C: R Williams/Horford/M Brown

I would do that trade. Charlotte won't, unless you had a first and good prospect like Nesmith or Langford... And that I wouldn't do.

But it would be horrible to think we have to give Smart + 16 just to take contract we could take 2 years before, sith an Horford 2 years younger... Just to dump the last 2 years 2 biggest FA signing.

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
Are we signing Terry to an extension after we make the trade? Because I want nothing to do with expiring Terry on this team. We all saw how that worked out last time.
