Cam Payne has revived his career in Phoenix. He has become really good, elite speed and quickness, can blow by guys.

He is an unrestricted free agent this summer.

He currently makes only about $2mm this year.

How much $$ do we have available to sign him as a free agent?  Will we have the non-taxpayer minimum exception available? If we sign Fournier?

Wonder what his market value will be this off season.  I imagine the Suns will try hard to re-sign him.  But their owner is notoriously cheap.

Would you be interested in him playing PG for our team next season?

Pump the brakes. He has not become “really good”.  His numbers are marginally better than Payton Pritchard’s, and he’s got the same issues of size when it comes to defence. He’s a good bench PG, which is something we don’t need.

Hard pass. I’m actually fine with Smart at the point now that Kemba is out and Horford is in. If Marcus is playing the point, he should be shooting less.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

Yeah, maybe not as a starter.  His efficiency this season was pretty incredible.  He is the best UFA of PGs I could find that was realistically available and affordable (i.e. not Paul or Lowry).

Payne continues to really impress me. Watching the game today?

What other choice?  How is the team going to find a bonafide starting PG without spending large cash

Celts are probably not going to spend spend this upcoming season...while thinking about/option to sign the third big piece for next season

Payne would be a good pickup for the right price

He has high expectations ... maybe Payne didn't do him good for his fantasy team  JK

If he can play for the Sun's, he can play for us! He would be the best point guard on our team, as soon as he got here!

Hard no. Dudes a role player.

I consider Smart a bonafide starting PG.  He could certainly be improved upon, there are better starting PGs in the world but to me, this is not a pressing need.

yeah?  I don't think he is a bonafide starting PG. He is not a natural....    Also would have an uncomfortable time trying to stay in front of speedier PGs.  He can do it...but would be better served to guard bigger guards/forwards instead

I do agree that it is not a pressing need.  Between Smart, Pritchard, Yam and vet FA signing/trade....  as long as the D is solid and some steady offense. Should be fine

Lol.  Marcus Shoot Less.  Why would a guy who thinks he's a top flight shooter shoot less?  If marcus shot 8 times a game with all being only open shots I'd be so happy with marcus as PG.  I don't think he has it in him not to shoot 15 - 17 times a game.  No kemba.  Al doesn't shoot much so someone will have to take shots and Marcus will feel like why not me.

I'd love to have him, but he might be outplaying what we can offer him (taxpayer's MLE).

Plus the other teams invite him to shoot, while his man double teams Tatum, and he's more than happy to oblige!!
