What do you guys think of Monte Morris? I’ve always liked his game and I think he proved in the playoffs that he’s a more than serviceable point guard. Next year is the first year of his 3 year/$27 mil contract (a bargain if you ask me), so I’d be a bit surprised if he’s moved, but you never know.

Would Denver entertain the idea of Smart/Grant for Morris/Green(expiring) or something along those lines?

I’m not huge on trading Smart, but I sort of feel like he and the organization have become mutually disillusioned with one another, and it couldn’t hurt exploring his value if Stevens think we could potentially lose him for nothing.

I like him, but is he really starter material? A PG rotation of Pritchard and Monte Morris seems pretty weak to me.

SG: Sidney Moncrief / World B. Free

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
We have a TPE and Tristan's contract that both can be traded for Morris' contract, but I understand that is not enough. Looking at the salaries for players in that range, it is actually a little depressing as far as starting level PGs go:

I think if we are trading Smart, we need to do better. Aim for like the Dejounte Murray level of player. Not that he is obtainable either, but Smart is very good and I don't want to trade him unless we are upgrading.

I thought you could combine Smart and TT and get much more creative, but there is really no PG outside of Brogdon in that $20-something million range that is both obtainable and desirable. Like we aren't getting Fox or Murray; and do we really want D'Lo? We might be better off trying to trade TL for a rookie or 2nd year PG with some promise.

I am in the same camp. Strong bench player to passable starting PG. More of a hole plugger / band aid than a solution to anything long term.

Rather make a move for Delon Wright than Morris.

I was disappointed Delon Wright did not make a better go of it in Dallas next to Doncic. Delon looked a good fit there as a secondary ball-handler. Big defensive PG. Can shoot.

I don't have a good reading on what went wrong there. Why it didn't work better. Why he wasn't more valued.

Throughout his career, I have kept expecting more from Delon Wright and he has frequently under-delivered. It has never quite come together for him.

Still, I like him more than I like Monte Morris so I am in.

I wouldn’t be upset or surprised if they went after Wright. I’ll be happy with any big point guard who can make plays and defend.

The Celtics are going to need someone who can give Trae Young a hard time in future playoffs series. A future celtics/hawks series seems inevitable, and Trae Young is an absolute problem
