Glen Davis deleted tweet

"Thats the same ankle stomp on lucky with *shrug*"

I held myself back from entertaining the idea of him injuring that foot, but I did post here that I hoped he'd miss every layup off that foot for the rest of the playoffs. Can't deny injury karma to that leg didn't cross my mind at the time though.

No love for Kyrie but I want to see someone beat them at full strength. Injuries have always played a role in the playoffs but this year it seems over the top.

Look, nobody deserves to be injured.

But not everybody is equally UNdeserving of being injured.

Please lock this thread mods!

Why?  I never like to see athletes get hurt.  They need to make a living but when they sign a contract they still get paid.  We get hurt on our job we don't have that kind of protection.

Besides he rolled his ankle.  It's not like people are cheering a gruesome injury like Hayward or George went through.  Ankle injuries are a dime a dozen.  Who cares if people are happy.  I don't like Kryme and could care less what happens to him.  I'm not rooting to him to get hurt but I am rooting for him and the Three Stooges not to win a championship.  I'll root for Milwaukee and Philly over Kryme any time.  Let's Go Giannis!

But what is full strength for the Nets?  They built their team around a guy coming off an Achilles in KD, someone who’s has season-ending injuries in two of the prior 3 years in Kyrie, and a guy in Harden who tanked his offseason to force a trade.  It’s not like they’ve got bad luck — they knew what they were signing up for, and hoping to get good luck.

Injuries are the only thing that could stop them in my opinion

This is a great point. The Nets got unbelievable injury luck by having Durant come off a torn achilles and miraculously look just as quick and explosive -- perhaps even more so -- than before. I'm not sure that has ever happened in the history of sports.

Harden had a lingering hamstring issue earlier this season with the Rockets when the Nets acquired him (no?), and besides that, is 31 and plays at a heavy weight to begin with. Kyrie has a history of missing games and has had multiple knee surgeries.

Injuries are a crapshoot for every team, but I'm not sure I see the Nets as somehow uniquely snake-bitten.

I feel like some folks might be burying the Nets prematurely.

yup, Bucks have to knock them off before any true celebration should begin.

I have no joy in seeing even the scummiest of players get hurt. Not even Kyrie.

But what you say here is 100% true. In some cases, the possibilities of players getting hurt is higher in some players vs others.

It shouldn't be a surprise that oft injured players like Kyrie, Embiid and Anthony Davis got hurt this playoff season. It shouldn't be a surprise that someone as old and with as much wear and tear as LeBron looked limited and not his otherworldly self playing through injury. It shouldn't be a surprise that Harden got hurt after not taking care of himself last off-season. It wouldn't be a surprise if Durant goes down this playoffs, he has been oft injured since the 2019 playoffs.

Bucks need to win game 5 in Brooklyn to have a chance to win the series.
Probably highly likely that Harden & Kyrie are both back for game 7 or sooner, well just because.
Even if the Bucks win game 5 this could turn out a lot like the 2012 Celtics series vs the Heat.

Bucks gotta keep the foot on the pedal.

I wouldn’t say the Nets are uniquely snakebitten. I’m saying the whole league has been suffering.  I’d like to see the best play the best. Instead, team after team is being taken out by injury. It’s title by default; you win by escaping the crap shoot of injury.

I also don’t buy the “it’s their fault” storyline. It’s not just vulnerable players getting hurt. The Cs were probably not going to make a deep run, even if healthy, but when we lost Jaylen that took our chances from slim to none. Denver is without Jamal Murray, leaving Jokic with no help. You could put together a team favored to win it all from the guys who are hurt. I’m sure I’m forgetting others.

On the flip side, Irving landed bad on somebody’s ankle. That could injure anybody. You say Harden didn’t take care of himself, but he’s been durable for years and he rested during the regular season as needed. Durant is, ironically, the one guy still able to play at a high level!

I guess, at least, if the Sixers beat the Hawks they’ll earn their win, but say Embiid goes down, how sorry is that as a way to advance? This is just a plea to the basketball gods: enough already!
