“frankly think Love and Horford are adequate replacements for Brown this season, maybe next,…”

Ah. No. Not even close.

Also, this trade makes no sense for Boston.

How does four first-round picks for Brown, and eating the end of Love’s contract (he’s still only 32), not make sense? We are the prime team to land a max free agent in 2023, a loaded free agency class, with this move. A move like this may be the only way to possibly land Jokic in two years. If Jokic (who may be the best player in the league now) joins Tatum and a serviceable supporting  cast, we’re favorites for the title.

I notice you didn’t defend the claim that Love and Horford are adequate replacements for Brown, so that’s a start.

As for the rest, you’re trading a player who we know is very valuable, right now, for the possibility that if everything breaks right something great could possibly happen years from now.

The picks start in 2023, and you’re picking up the carcass of Kevin Love. Is Tatum going to say: cool, cool, I’ll hang out here in Boston just in case you get Jokic to come here. Definitely not going to try and force my way out after you threw away a couple years of my prime. And hey, if Jokic doesn’t come, I won’t mind: good try!

You also seem to be counting on those picks hitting big - do you remember when the Sacto pick was going to be at the top of the draft? Didn’t quite work out that way, did it.

I would imagine that one of the selling points to our new coach is the chance to work with JT and JB. We have two elite all star wings. I don’t see any reason why we trade one of them, unless its for another All Star in return.

This is your 2nd horrible trade idea today to get Jaylen Brown out of Boston.  I don't even have to look to see who originated the thread haha.

This one is bad, your other ones are bad.  Maybe just for a day try to accept that Jaylen is an all-star that we aren't going to trade.

You may not want to but you need to  trade Jaylen for the right fit with Tatum.

You may think that.  I highly doubt that the boston celtics front office thinks that.
This is a great point.  We all have fun being armchair GM's, but it not an easy task and it's actually harder than being the real GM in one respect.  You have to take in all tangible considerations like roster needs, cap space, etc. etc. but you also have to think about what the team is likely to actually do.  A real GM, by definition, doesn't have to think about this, but we do.  There no way to avoid taking likelihood into consideration.

Yup,  I hope the armchair GM's out there realize that Tatum/Brown aren't going anywhere.  How can you possibly recruit a great coach while shopping one of your best players who is also a building block of the future?

The J's seem like a pretty good fit to me on the basketball court.  So unless they're clashing from a personality perspective, I don't see a need to trade Jaylen.  Now if Jaylen could be traded for a better, established star (e.g. Jokic, Embiid, maybe Towns) that's a different story.

why would brown be next? we have a young budding all-star on a pretty good contract.

Lets not just blow up the team for the sake of it and start over...

Why would Brown be next?  This is so silly.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Greenly reminds me of Silky.

Both got certain trade ideas and then made dozens of trade threads with different iterations of the same trade.

For Silky, it was that he was obsessed with sign and trades. Greenly, on the other hand, seems hell-bent on trading Jaylen Brown.

Different but very similar....
