Essentially, Kristaps would have to be the final iteration of his Knick days for that to be a contender, and even then our defense would take a huge hit.

2022 Brown better than Beal, or more valuable at least, 2 way player, etc...

Robert Williams better than Bertans.

We get picks not Washington....

Dallas will want something else...hopefully a couple second round picks would entice them...

I think an argument could be made that KP is on his way to being back healthy again and NYK level production in the right environment. The injury is now two seasons ago and he he played 57 and 43 games respectively in shortened seasons averaging 31 min a night and still 20/10 as a misfit in a lineup where Donci dominates the ball.

Is this what we're counting as a sign of health?  He only missed 18 games last year (along with three playoff games), and only 29 (out of 72) this year?

He has basically played the same amount of games the last 2 seasons as Kemba Walker.  That is who you would be trading him for in this scenario.  KP is younger and a better roster fit.  Yes he has the extra year, but Boston isn't going to be able to do much in free agency that year anyway unless it totally guts the team around Tatum and Brown over the next 2 years, and that strikes more as a way to lose Tatum and Brown then create a championship roster.

Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

That PF/C combo is not going to work on defense.   And the Celtics bring in two bad contracts for the price of one bad contract.

Can be talked into KP for Kemba. But not the other move. KP had an excellent season statistically. He was unhappy with the offense and his role… in a CBS system he’d be a passer and playmaker. Will we still have a CBS system? Who knows. But he can play that role, spread the floor, etc. Health, contract and motivation are question marks.

Yikes, no.

Go back and watch KP in the Clippers series. He wasn’t even at the level of an MLE player, and that was his production when healthy. He has a long injury history - at least as risky as Kemba. *And* KP is on the books one year longer than Kemba at comparable money.

Absolutely no.

So we get a shorter contract on Beal and a longer contract on Porzingis.

No thanks

I think that Brown and Tatum are our "scorers".

Brown is quite good on defense which makes him a difficult player to replace. Do you watch who he has to cover on defense?

I have read about zinger being available. I get the swap with Kemba I do not think zinger is a liability. I think he is a "third best" player on a title team if he is a fit. Yes, I get he had a bad post season this year.

The only reason I can think of this is I want to move Walker. I see that zinger isn't a "frontcourt force" but he might be a better match with the Boston Celtics than Kemba Walker.

They both miss games and are expensive, they are both above average outside shooters. Zinger is 7 feet tall, but plays like a two.

If it was a reasonable deal, I'd love to have a tall guy who can hit shots as the Celtics don't have that.

Is there a gain here?

A Walker trade is going to be funky....he's expensive and injured....so is Porzingis.

I wouldn't be in favor of trading Pritchard or Nesmith in a "Walker salary dump."

Please don't trade Brown for some guy who scores a lot and is a below average defender.

I'd say he's far more of an injury risk than Kemba. Kristaps has had structural injuries to his knees - first the ACL tear, then the meniscus tear. He's never played a full season in his career, including missing an entire season. At his height, that doesn't bode well for his future.

I am intrigued by Porzingis but concerned with durability.  Either Kemba or Porzingis have durability issues so at a certain level, I like taking the risk with a big over a small but it is hard to know what kind of risk you would be taking with Porzingis.  Assuming the Doctors give you a reasonably positive report, I think I would do this part of the trade.  It doesn't make us an immediate title contender but most deals don't.  That can't be the measure of every trade.  Some trades just get you a step closer.

I don't like the Beal for Brown trade.  I get that Beal is a star but Brown is on his way to being one also.  I just don't feel that is the direction to head off in.
