I really don't think that the problem with Kemba is injuries.  I think he's fool's gold either way.  He's tiny and a major step down from the other All Star tiny PGs, but he puts up numbers vs the bad regular season teams so you have to pay him.  His impact vs good teams relative to his salary is arguably top 5 or 6 worst in the League, injuries aside.

I think smart GMs like Indy will never take him.  We should just take what we can get from one of the dumber GMs.

This is presumably just a silly thread, but before people take it seriously, you can’t trade players for coaches.  Remember when Doc went to Clippers, the Celtics and Clippers couldn’t trade players for a year to prevent any funny business.

Kemba and Stevens for Brogdon

Brogdon would be an amazing fit for us to run point. Unlikely the Pacers would trade him short of Kings Ransom. Would they consider something like Marcus Smart + Tristan (to get the Salaries in range), plus Timelord, any pick of the youngsters and 3 or 4 first rounders + swaps. Brogdon has 2 years left on his contract. Indiana may be more likely to do a deal after this coming season if they don't think they'll be able to retain him, but might be worth asking. If we could somehow pair the J's with Brogdon we would be in business for a top 3 seed and competitive with the Bucks, Sixers and Nets (depending on if Durant is still in Supernova mode).

  • Sometimes there's no sane reason for optimism
What? 4 1st Rounders? Time Lord and Nesmith? Smart and TT? This is the kind of package that lands you Harden or KD, not Malcolm Brogdon. If Smart and TT doesn't get it done, then I am all set. I like Brogdon, but I also like Smart...and you can actually count on Smart's health over Brogdon's.

That's a valid point. Probably a bit rich for Brogdon. I was just thinking of what it would take. You probably save the 4 pick "God Father" offer for a Beal type. I do think Brogdon would be a significant upgrade at point over Smart and have concerns if he is our starting PG with only Pritchard as the backup, but a desperation trade is probably not the answer either.
