Would the pacers do that? It seems they are in a re-tool stage than total rebuild, I don't know how much they value Sabonis but he seems to be the kind of point center that Stevens likes.

I think Sabonis is the only guy they are keeping and building around.

Last year DA jerked Pritchard around re Hayward, and now people expect Indiana to give up a younger All Star big for broken down Kemba!  Pritchard would want 10 first rounders.

I'm a huge Kemba fan, but I can't imagine the Pacers would do this deal. Sabonis would fit in really well with the Cs and the Pacers do have one too many bigs, but it might take Jaylen to get him - which I don't think the Cs should do.

How about Walker, Brown plus picks for Sabonis, Brogdan and Levert

It would take something like Brown and picks to get Sabonis.

Kemba has ZERO trade value.  To move his contract the Celtics will need to give up an asset so Kemba will not bring much - if anything back.

The team needs to weaken itself in the short term in order to get his contract off the books and create some roster flexibility.

Folks need to get used to the idea that the Celtics could well have less talent on the roster next season than they do right now.

Ainge is not in charge anymore though. Stevens may be able to deal with Pritchard in a better manner

Pacers say no
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

No way they would do this trade.

Don’t think they give up Sabonis. But I’d be thrilled if they could somehow get Brogdon. I love that dude’s overall game.

I don't know about that. There was some noise late in the season that they were souring on him. They were having a disappointing campaign and were irritated at how bad their defense was when Myles Turner wasn't around to clean up after him. That Sabonis was not the type of player you can build around.

So I think he is more available than people believe. Certainly more available than a year ago.

There is a large difference between being open to moving someone and wanting to dump someone. A Kemba for Sabonis trade is a dumping move. That is not where they are. But I do believe Sabonis is available for a lesser package than many would expect. A young above average starter with some potential (or average starter with higher potential) rather than an established star would likely do it.

It would be really cool if the site had some sort of AI software, where the OP would be denied the right to post trade ideas that are this lopsided. Or maybe have a warning pop up after hitting the post button, where the computer has the dialogue from Adam Sandler's "Oh Mom" bit..."No, there all gonna laugh at you!" Followed by, are you sure you want to proceed.

I'm not trying to single this trade idea out, but we need to stop this trend early, where we have countless threads of trade proposals of our trash for another teams best player. Kemba use to be good, with the key phrase being "use to be". Now, he's an overpaid liability that I would trade in a heart beat for a second round pick.

I don't know about that. He's not a good defender, but he averaged 20.3/12.0/6.7 last year and is reasonably efficient. He's a great passer. If he improves his 3 pt pct some he becomes a truly elite offensive player, and he is seriously underpaid. He'd cost more than you are implying. I'd much rather hide him on defense than hide Kemba.

I am pretty sure for a team to take Kemba now, it will have to involve Brown which is a huge big no unless it brings us back an alpha 2 for Tatum. A treasure trove of firsts might work if someone believes we are heading for a Nets drop-off that gets them lottery picks..
