That one seems pretty obvious to me.  For Portland fans, probably not as much.

Dame is essentially a god in that city.  I don't know if the organization would have the fortitude to move him.

I'm not sure that trade actually elevates Boston into the same range as Brooklyn or Milwaukee and it shrinks the window considerably, so I'm not sure I'd actually do it.

I’ve thought of this and other trades. Each team that gets bounced early I’ve asked, “I wonder if they will blow it up.”

No. Dames contract is ridiculous, he’s over 30 (going to be 31 in another month) and small guards get exposed in the playoffs, especially if they are your number 1 or 2 option.

I feel like trying to also include Nurkic is being a little too greedy.

I was thinking Lillard for Brown, Smart, and this year's first round pick.

I also think Lillard is the last person the Blazers will be looking to trade. The only negative thing about acquiring him, is his massive contract. Didn't he sign a 4 year extension for $196M, which includes a player option for 2024/25 that is for $54,250,000.

I'm not sure, Dame is better than Kemba but not really better than Kemba + Brown.

I'd prefer Smart + Kemba + Langford + 2 picks for Dame + Covington. But I don't see Portland doing that, unless Dame asks to be traded to Boston.

I think Damian Lillard is this generation's KG.

Dude has put Portland on his back the last 8 years, has done amazing with what he has there, constantly comes up big in the playoffs, but plays in the West so he's always running into dominant teams.  Always plays hard and appears insanely loyal, but stuck in a small market.  All was true for KG too.

If he gets traded, a lot of teams jump to contender status.  I think he's that rare guy whose good enough to be a 1A, but is absolutely fine playing the 1B or 2 role, like KG.  And that's a big reason why I think he'd elevate so many teams.  I think he'd be a culture changer like KG.

I'm a big Damian Lillard believer.

Problem is, he probably only has 2 years left (if that) as the guy I think so highly of, and he ain't asking for a trade.

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I would love to have Dame in Boston but leave him finish his career in Portland where he finish as a top 2 ALL time. Jaylen and Tatum has so much things to do in so much years. Leave them the time to finish in the biggest All time duo in our franchise. We will one time to feed the team with adequat talent around them, esp when they get older, our team will be more attractive for cheap vets and friednly "Buddys" signing (as they will become regular all star probably).

Exactly what I thought.  This is basically going all-in on the next two seasons of basketball in a conference that the Brooklyn Nets just became a force in.  When we're still 3-5 years away from the typical years that would represent Jayson Tatum & Jaylen Brown's peak years.  I'd rather be patient.

That is tough. Lillard is better but also so much older than Jaylen. Hard to give up on a decade of Jaylen for five years of Lillard.

Rumors started swirling before the playoffs that Dame would ask for a trade if they had another first round exit.

Who knows if they are true or not but here we are.. blazers would obviously try to trade CJ to build a better team around Dame but I’m unsure how much value he has.

To answer the OP you absolutely trade brown for Lillard. If our intention is to build around Tatum you need to trade Brown, Lillard is a top 10 talent you do what you can to pair him with Tatum.

Not to mention a Tatum/Lillard combo is a lot more enticing to other free agents then a brown/Tatum combo.

One of the issues I had with Danny in recent years, is I felt he was trying too hard in building a team for the long term. That feels like an old school mindset. Players have far more control now, so championship contender windows are a lot smaller too. Will Stevens adapt to this mindset of today's players? I think having an elite player for 5 years in Lillard gives the Celtics a better opportunity to win a title, than 10 years of Jaylen.

Portland isn't trading Lillard
