It's not a sexy trade, but it does improve our defense and ball-movement, and it's almost cost neutral.

I know Smart and Timelord have passionate fans, but Smart hasn't played well this year and has one year left on his deal. Timelord is arguably fragile, and will want to be paid in free agency.
