Initially, I didn’t really care who won the finals this year, but I’ve had a change of heart...
100% want the Suns to win. If they don’t, I can totally see CP3 going to the Lakers and teaming up with Lebron and AD. He built an $11M home in Encino, CA last year and believe I heard his kids still go to school in LA.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

If he wants to go to the Lakers, he'll go there regardless of whether the Suns win or lose.  Kawhi left Toronto after they'd won the championship.

Kawhi was traded to a team in another country. Plus, he made it known before the trade to Toronto that he wanted to be in LA.

If Chris Paul wins a championship, I can’t see him leaving the Suns and joining the Lakers. Phoenix is an hour flight to LA. Totally different scenarios.

The Lakers can't pay him more than the MLE.  He wants 1 more big contract.  He isn't going to LA.

Yup. He would be leaving tens of millions of dollars on the table signing with LA. Also, maybe not the best of looks for the president of the union turning away maybe as close to $100 million just to go to LA.

I hope you both are right. Just not sure a player that’s going to be 37 next season(and not named Lebron James) gets a deal close to $100m.

I'm pretty sure the Suns will offer him a 3 year, 100 million contract (or something like that).  Remember Chris Paul has a player option for 44 million.  he isn't opting out unless it makes sense long term for him to do so.  Now maybe they just add 2 years on the back end for like 56 million, so he gets his 44 million this year, but ends up at 3 years, 100 million.

I don’t know how much Chris Paul will make in free agency.  But I do know the max he can get via an MLE is 4 years, $41 million, and he sure as heck isn’t going to turn down a 1-year, $44 million player option for that.

Also, I disagree with the premise.  I'd much rather have Chris Paul in LA than Giannis not winning and asking out to go create some other super team somewhere else.  I mean had the Cavs not totally been incompetent then Lebron might never have gone to Miami.  I'd much rather have the Bucks and Giannis win, so he has no reason to start looking around at other squads.  It is better for the league, but more importantly, better for Boston that Giannis doesn't end up playing with actual legit top 10 players somewhere else.  No one would beat them.

You’d rather CP3 go to the Lakers and form a super team with Lebron and AD? They would be the favorites to come out of the West and would more than likely win the championship next year, surpassing the Celtics for most all time. Hard pass on that one for me.

Also, Giannis just signed that contract extension and has 4 years remaining. I don’t see him demanding a trade first year into his new deal and after making it to the finals for the first time.

Absolutely.  Paul and James are old.  Davis is always injured.  Even if they stay healthy next year, it is just 1 year (and Boston isn't winning next year anyway).  I also don't think they'd be guaranteed to beat a healthy Brooklyn even if they all stayed healthy.  Giannis getting a legit running mate while still in his 20's would basically end all hope of a Tatum/Brown championship at any time in the future.

Both teams look a little tight to start.

Giannis needs to pick it up. He had a massive size advantage while Ayton was sitting and did almost nothing.

I agree. He shouldn’t be, though. Haven’t played since Sunday..
