Is there another team other than the Celtics that you root for? Does that team stay steady, or change from year to year?

For me, and the obvious answer is any team playing the Lakers, ha ha. But, I don’t really have a second team that I consistently root for.  I pulled hard for the Pacers when Larry was running the show, and I generally root for whoever my favorite players play for.  So, at times, I have followed the Suns (Barkley) and Rockets (Hakeem) pretty closely.

These days, I root for other teams less, but I still have a soft spot for the Bucks and the Clippers.  They each just have a lot of players that I like. However, I don’t actively follow them.

I don't have a 2nd team per se.

However, I have a DEN futures bet to win the title at +2600 so I have a vested economic interest in them this year.   So I'll be rooting for them.

no one but the C's.  have always been a single team guy.  taking it a step further, I don't even bother watching a game unless he C's are playing due to the poor quality product the NBA has been peddling for many years

I don’t have a second team out of any kind of loyalty, but Luka is fun to watch, so the Mavs except for tonight.

Not on a regular basis, but I'm enjoying the Suns and Hornets this year.

Never really a fan (hard to become one last time) but I always liked the Knicks.

I would say my favorite non-Celtics team is the Nuggets, and that's because I love watching Nikola Jokic.

Even then, though, I don't actually have the time and the bandwidth to really follow any team the way I follow the Celtics.  There are teams I like, but none of them matter to me in the way the Celtics do.

In a vacuum I'd love to spend more time watching other teams, but in practice I have enough trouble finding time to watch the Celtics.

But when the playoffs roll around, I have to come to terms with the fact that the Celts won't be playing the whole way through.  That's especially true this year.  They'll probably be done pretty early.

So who will I be excited to watch in the later rounds?

The Nuggets.

I'd also be happy to see the Jazz or the Suns make a deep run.

In the East, I'd say I like the Heat the most of the good teams.  I would not mind seeing Giannis go up a level and make a deep run, either.

My fear is that this year we'll be watching a lot of Lakers and Nets basketball, or maybe the Sixers.  Those are probably my three least favorite teams.

Wouldn’t say that I have a second team, but there are some that I like watching Including: Clippers, Nuggets, Mavs, Suns, Blazers.

I hope the Clippers or Nuggets come out of the West. If the C’s don’t come out of the East, Hope it’s the Bucks. Would be rooting for the Clippers or Nuggets to win the whole thing in that scenario.

At some point you have to blame the performance on the court on the players on the court. Every loss is not the coach's fault and every win isn't because of the players.

I grew up in Greece close to the arena where the Antetokounmpo brothers were playing, hence I have a soft spot for the Bucks. I also loved what they did last year when they boycotted a playoff game in support of the BLM movement.

Not sure whether the OP is only interested in NBA teams. My #1 basketball team is the Rethymno Cretan Kings, a tiny little team from the island of Crete. The C's are a distant second.

In the NBA and NHL, no.  In MLB it's the Braves because I lived in GA for a number of years and in the NFL it's the Vikings because I grew up watching the Purple People Eaters, my Fantasy Football Team name as well.

If I had to think about it, the Supersonics were probably my second because they beat the Bullets in 79.  DJ and Jack Sikma were on that team and I liked them as players, who knew DJ would eventually play for Boston.

The Raptors. Not an invested rivalry between the two Atlantic squads but they were fun to watch. Was pretty excited to watch them beat the Warriors in 2019 as well as silencing the 76ers and Bucks that year. Nice city too.

Last year, obviously had to root for Boston against them.

Used to be the Sonics. I loved Payton and Kemp, then was enamored with Durant. Once the franchise was stolen that all fell apart. Now if it was anyone, I'd say Portland, maybe it's a Pacific Northwest thing. Always like the Texas teams too.

Not a fan per se but I always watched the box scores for the Sonics during the Payton Kemp days and I really like watching Denver back in the Alex English days.  He is such an under rated HOFer.

Nope.   All Celtics all the time.  More of a Celtics Fan than an NBA Fan

Not so much teams as players. Although I do like Memphis, Dallas and San Antonio generally over the years. Have all had guys I've really liked (Dirk, TD, Kawhi, Manu, Luka, Kidd, TA, Gasol, Morant, etc.) and have played some great basketball styles, whether it was grit n grind or the ball-movement of that 13-14 Spurs team
