They wanted a strong young PG with potential and got it plus more. It probably came down to Danny not wanting to give away Pritchard plus Smart and two firsts. Denver is stacked and ready to challenge.

Would you give that celts package for Gordon?

I thought the 2 firsts would’ve swung things in our favor too

I would not have. I dont believe Gordon is worth that much.

The wanted essentially a young guy (Hampton) and a 1st which they got. I feel like Harris was salary filler because he's not exactly young and his play has fallen off a cliff.

I think it ultimately came down to Danny not wanting to give up a young guy and a 1st which to me is dumb and stupid and obnoxious. He's still not committing to a direction for this team.

"Trader Danny" is now done for the year.....

He will say sometime today/tomorrow - "...ammmm, I really like the makeup of this team and I didn't want to do anything to break it up. In season trades rarely work out. I want to make sure that we have flexibility in the summer and beyond"

This I'm sure will infuriate Tatum. Do Nothing Danny is just kicking the can down the road - AGAIN.

Is that a better deal than Smart, Langford(or)Nesmith and Boston 1st?

Nope

Ainge didn't want to include Smart

I bet you his thinking is

"I took Smart one spot after AG.... So I have to give up Nesmith and a 1st also??

no way"

Imo he is a penny pincher in terms of giving up assets

Did Danny tell you that himself?

no but this did

Starting to look like the Celtics' reluctance to part with Smart, at least for Gordon, may have been a deakl-breaker.

The Orlando Magic are progressing on a trade to send Aaron Gordon to the Denver Nuggets, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium.

Speculation is different than fact.  You stated something as fact when, in fact, we don't know that it is.  You have a tendency to do this a lot.

Per source: Celtics talks with Orlando re: Aaron Gordon "still alive, but everyone does everything at last minute." Celtics offering first round pick and a young player - not Marcus Smart - and are trying not to include second pick in the deal.

I already posted this

Frankly if Smart was the hold-up then I don't blame Danny for hanging up.  Smart is a better asset than any of those pieces from Denver... and I say that as a guy who has not liked Smart's play this year.  Dropping Smart along with Nesmith and a pick would have been a substantial overpay, compared to what Gordon actually fetched.

Smart, Nesmith, + First is a much better deal but that is way more than I would ever expect Danny to give up for what, a top 20 PF in the league?

Denver made a strong offer.  Good for them.  Makes more sense for them to stretch a little for Gordon than is does for us.

Let's see if any other shoes drop.  Fournier is a nice pick up if we are able to extend/resign him.

The bigger point is Danny’s reputation is killing deals. There is no use for a GM that cannot close deals because other GMs are afraid of dealing with him. Time for Danny to retire.
