I can't put my finger on it.  It just feels like he is an outsider since he returned.  It's always been a boost in the arm when he returns.  Not so much this time around.

Maybe it's the new haircut.  It just feels different.

I love Marcus Smart and appreciate all his contributions these past years, but I think it’s time to move on.

I don't know.   I think Smart's name is being thrown around a lot by the other teams that either want him or want to get other teams to offer more.

I hope not. I want him to win a DPOY award and some rings and have his number in the rafters. Smart does things I've never seen anyone else in the NBA do. He's my favorite player so that's my bias here but he's my favorite because of how much he brings to this team.

I’m ready.  Honestly, I would have traded him for Clint Capela when he was available.

Maybe all of that has sunk into my head.  It just doesn't look or feel the same to me.

If they trade Smart, I really hope they trade him to a contender.

I want to see Marcus Smart in the Finals while he's still in his prime.  Getting traded is probably the best chance he has of that happening.

What about the Suns?  Do the Suns have anybody to trade us?  Smart could join up with old buddy Crowder.  Bridges - Smart - Crowder would be quite a defensive wing trio to have playing with Chris Paul.

Overreaction at its finest. He may be moved, but he's definitely not done here just because a few rumors have popped up.

This team has been "in flux" for 5 years. Smart has been a constant, but, as things are today, isn't management going to build a team around the young guys?

Ainge needs a top frontcourt player.

Walker and Smart might be able to "fit" except their cost and "games" may not.

Not sure what Smart's problem has been. He is always "all over the place" but this season and last it seems his emotions are running his game more and more.

Excellent low cost distributor point guard.
Top front court presence.
Brown, Tatum, Robert and somehow some kind of "NBA" bench.

If Teague comes back, Pritchard is coming along, after that I'm stumped. Have guys that are good, but the Celtics are getting whipped by all levels of teams for a lot of reasons.

Marcus makes some incredible plays but he seems to cost us more games with just horrible shot and pass choices.  I want a smarter player.  Time for Smart to move on!  Let someone else give him a pay raise and be their stupid hero.

Smart may be what inspired my Forum Handle but I would rather he be traded at this point. He just doesn't have the impact on this team that he once did and the offense seems to lack cohesion when he's out there. I also think he has value around the league and a lot of teams would feel fortunate to have him.

Trade him and find someone like Josh Richardson or Tony Snell if you need defense. It's time for a fresh start from Marcus Smart.

I don't see it that way.

I see a good chunk of the fan-base turning their negative attention on Smart but for the wrong reasons. They are correct in criticizing some of the offensive play of Smart but are wrong in pinpointing Smart as the problem. The reason is the lack of offensive options on this team which is forcing Smart to do more than he is individually best served doing.

They should be criticizing the roster construction - not Smart.

I do not see Ainge falling into the same trap. He has never been a reactionary GM. So my expectation is that Ainge views Smart as valuable as he always has (and as disposable / tradable as he always has). That nothing has changed for Ainge in how he views Smart's play.

I like the Gordon/ Fournier scenario. My only fear ( glad I’m not a gm  ..so many calls I’d deny I ever got) is wee not have Marcus to deal in a BETTER trade in the future. But that’s probably greedy thinking. Sometimes I forget the Celtics legendary franchise stuff just means less snd less as years go by to anyone that didn’t grow up a fan. We’re a good size market but freezing cold and maybe a bit of a boring place?

Was Smart for Capela ever a real option?
