Well as uncompetitive as the game was, I'm happy that Brown and Tatum got to shine a little bit.  So at least there was that.

That’s insane that Kobe was an All-Star at age 19.

Jaylen just outshined Jayson on the biggest stage in the world so all those trade scenarios with Jaylen need to be locked

Well DA isn’t trading JB or JT.  But if you mean it is gonna silence crazy trade deals here on Celticsblog, well...good luck with that.

Outshined?  I saw one guy passing the ball and wrecking havoc in passing lanes and that guy wasn't Jaylen.

And I know everyone hates when I quote +-, but the ONLY player on Team Durant to have a positive +- for the game was Tatum at +7.  He even makes all star teams go.
2025 Historical Draft - Cleveland Cavaliers - 1st pick

Starters - Luka, JB, Lebron, Wemby, Shaq
Rotation - D. Daniels, Mitchell, G. Wallace, Melo, Noah
Deep Bench - Korver, Turner

He didn’t earn that one.  It was more about hype, potential and exceeding expectations.

The only players in the ASG younger than Jaylen and Jayson were Zion and Doncic.

so Embiid and Simmons being pulled from the game for covid protocols is interesting. Hopefully, they really didn't have contact with anyone else because if they did, the NBA nightmare of playing the all star game will come to fruition as that could really wreck havoc on the 2nd half of the season.   That is the main reason so many thought it was a bad idea to play the game to begin with.  I thought it was a bad look and now we have two all stars in covid protocols (though they appear to have been in contact with a barber in Philly).

Jaylen Brown
Boston Celtics
Guard | Grade: A-

Stats
22 PTS | 5 REB | 5-7 3-PT FG

Analysis
In his All-Star debut, Brown showed he belonged on the NBA's biggest individual stage, scoring 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including five 3-pointers. Most crucial was a 4-point play during the fourth quarter when he knocked down a 3 while getting pushed out of bounds by defender Zach LaVine. Getting in the All-Star spirit, Brown also completed an alley-oop to himself off the glass.

Jayson Tatum
Boston Celtics
Forward | Grade: A-

Stats
21 PTS | 4 REB | 7 AST

Analysis
The active Tatum showed his improvement as a playmaker by handing out seven assists to go along with his 21 points. Taking defense seriously at times, Tatum also finished with a game-high four steals, including one when he denied a backdoor cut early in the game.

Philadelphia 76ers stars Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons were ruled out of the All-Star game on Sunday after a barber both had visited in Philadelphia tested positive for COVID-19. According to the league, they didn’t come in contact with any of their coaches (Doc Rivers is coaching in the game) nor did they interact with any of the other players.
